(no subject)

It's interesting to me how self-serving people can be when they are claiming to be helping others. I am a pretty trusting person, so I don't often question peoples' motives when they are offering me advice. However, maybe I should scrutinize their advice more carefully. Are they really trying to help me, or are they trying to do something else. True, advocating this position will probably cause all of you to question my intent when I am trying to help. That's fine with me. My motives are honorable. Anyway, don't believe everything you hear, even if it's from a "friend." Question what their motives might be and how they have behaved in the past in similar situations (if you have previously encountered similar situations).

Not everyone has honorable intentions. Many people behave in a very Machiavellian fashion: that is to say they use people for whatever end they are trying to achieve. "[People] are so simple, and so subject to present necessities, that he who seeks to deceive will always find someone who will allow [him or herself] to be deceived." (Machavelli, "The Prince") Someone once told me that those who don't trust others often do so because they themselves are not to be trusted. I believe that there is a great deal of truth to this.

Whatever, I'm done with this subject for a while. Make sure that those who claim to be helping you are really helping you and not helping themselves.
