Greg Fallis, an awesome photographer and writer and member of Utata, wrote these words:

Distracted, she turns away. Just for a moment, just long enough for the heart to beat three times. In that moment layers of complexity slide off her as easily and simply as water over a stone, in that moment she is most truly herself.

At first you are only taken by the graceful play of light on her perfect ear. Then, with a surprising ache, you wish you could see her wrist, that pale, delicate hinge beneath which beats her pulse...so close to the surface, so vulnerable, so powerful, so hidden, so natural, so necessary. So very much like her.

She'll never understand the intensity of that unguarded moment; she'll never be aware that in those three brief pulses of her young heart you have given her a lifetime of love and that she has unknowingly returned it.

Then she turns back to you and continues the conversation, continues talking as if nothing astonishing has just happened, as if the world hadn't come to a complete halt for the length of time it takes for the heart to beat three times.
