One of the alterna-weeklies wrote an article slamming the burlesque scene? And we need to boycott it?

Insert sense of outrage on behalf of the wronged community here. Really. I am right behind you. Yep.
Man, I feel old!
Not only because I see that this is the latest in a long line of "burlesque-is-dead" articles that crops up around this time every year, not only because I recognize the sense of outrage, but because I recognize that the article is kind of right.
Because while there are some phenomenal performers out there, there are a lot of boring acts and substandard shows. Because there is an upswing in popularity for taking a burlesque class rather than, say, yoga or Pilates. Because there are restaurants and venues that chuck in a burlesque show because it's trendy regardless of the demand of the space.
Sorry, I know this stings, but in two years, this same alterna-weekly will write a glowing review of another burlesque show talking about how it's back! Which is when the other weekly will write an article about...
Oh but I wouldn't want to ruin the ending.
