This last week has been one of those roller-coasters of emotion.
To begin with, on Veteran's Day, Teeka and I got to see "The Royal Circus of Moscow on Ice" performing in Pullman. (And that's the russian Moscow, not the one where Teeka and I live.) This was the first circus Teeka had ever been to, and I'm glad she enjoyed it as much as she did, eh. I'm still pretty blown away by some of the balancing acts we got to see. And how strong and flexible they must have been to pull off some of those feats... Well, let's just say I've got good reason never to pick a fight with circus people, eh. :)
Other than that, our weekend was very nice-- Teeka and I having a lazy weekend together with video-games and movies and such. (BTW, If you liked Jumanji, do go and see Zathura-- It is a totally predictable "Jumanji in space," but still very entertaining.)
And... on a sadder note, our latest foster kitten, Hinge, was put to sleep yesterday afternoon. Our friend at the humane society mentioned that they suspected something might be wrong with his digestive system, because he was having diarrhea and other problems. Over the week that we had him, Hinge ate less and less and just cried plaintively day and night. Monday and Tuesday he felt cold to the touch (which is never a good thing-- cats are supposed to have a higher body temperature than humans), so we spent a good portion of the time cuddling him or having him sit on a heating pad. He wouldn't eat the food Teeka tried to syringe-feed him... Yesterday morning Teeka told me he barely had the strength to stand. Our friend from the humane society came and picked him up shortly before noon. And sometime that afternoon, the decision was made to end his life as humanely as possible.
Farewell, Hinge. We didn't really get a chance to know you all that well. You certainly would have been a talkative one! But... I hope you're happier, where you are now.
*sigh*
