Ronald Reagan is not an American hero.
Well, maybe he's considered one, but he most certainly shouldn't be. I have some problems with Reaganomics, but considering the state of the economy, something had to be done, and what he did worked. But his overly combative rhetoric unnecessarily heightened cold war tensions (thank God for bluffing Russians). He expanded the war on drugs to preposterous proportions, tying up valuable resources in something that simply isn't going to change, or go away. He blew miniscule military operations up, casting them as important and dangerous undertakings in the public eye.
In a time of war, we don't need another Reagan. Foreign policy wise, it would be on par (though differently) with another Bush. We can't have another Reagan, our luck just isn't good enough.
SO FOR GODS SAKE, REPUBLICANS, STOP INVOKING HIS NAME LIKE HE'S SOME SORT OF AMERICAN GOD.
