Garbage on, Горбачев

The Hufu arrived today, along with a free apron! We were messing around with Photo Booth on the new iMac at work. Click on the photo for more photo booth photos.

A little chillier today, but rideable, thanks in no small part to the awesome insulated jersey jsoltren picked out for me in Boston while I was sitting outside the building they wouldn't let me enter, and the tights I picked up at Roy's on Monday. It wasn't as frozne as Trail Ridge, but it was pretty cold. For some reason, I felt especially giddy this morning, belting out some of the old Bike and Build tunes-of-the-road while cruising down Jewel Ave.

Discovered something really annoying about the new iMacs. Apparently, the Firewire bus doesn't provide as much power as it did on previous models, although the official spec is the same at 8W for the whole bus. The result is that bus-powered hard drives and other such peripherals don't work, unless you provide power from somewhere else or use a powered hub. Ugh. My initial suspicion was that the built-in iSight was drawing too much current, but it turns out that the built-in iSight is wired to USB, not FW. (Incidentally, it's wired to the same internal USB hub as the IR receiver for the remote.)

In the immortal words of OMaR, UGG COMPUTERS.

So basically everyone in the DS backroom ganged up on me today. I think it started when I was excitedly opening up my package of hufu, and all of a sudden I found myself playing yet another game of "vegan defense", which is a game I don't think anybody should ever have to play, but, having been vegan for a quarter of my life, i unfortunately have gotten very used to playing. I'm tired of just not getting why some people just don't get the fundamental "why" of it all. Oh well. It was a pretty rough day, workload-wise, too. Kevin and I didn't get to eat lunch until 6:30. I had about a third of the apple pie while we were waiting for our Japanese delivery order to arrive. The pie was basically my breakfast.
