Jumper? But I hardly even know 'er.

Stayed in today, except for a little bit to go to the store to put a new hard drive in my mom's iMac. The weather was a little whacky in the early afternoon, but nowhere near as bad as it must be down south. Hoooooly crap that must suck. It did give me a chance to finally catch up with all the SG-1 and Atlantis I missed during my adventures, though. I really can't believe SG-1 is still running after 9 years, and that they've actually got multiple seasons planned for its future. That's just crazy.

On a whim, started rereading my livejournal from the beginning, then stopped when I realized that it would probably make me want to reread all the junk on Hideaway and Yes also. I sort of miss the old Hideaway/Yes/early-LJ days, where the account for each day would be filled with little daily details and observations, but honestly, it's simply too much upkeep, especially since it means that nobody will bother to sit through and read it all. It does make for a fascinating re-read years later, though. After the re-read, I made public again the old friends-only posts which I briefly made public, then changed my mind and made private. They were silly little things anyway.

Lately, I haven't really been motivated to do very much. I've been a little preoccupied, lamenting the loss of the Voyager, and don't really know what to do about it. It probably doesn't help that I've been going through my Bike and Build diary and reliving the old Voyager days. It's very different from when the Enterprise was destroyed; although the Enterprise was very much more "my baby", I've been on far more adventures with the Voyager than I could have ever hoped to experience on the Enterprise. I am being silly though, crying about a bike, when people are losing their families and homes, but that sort of thing does happen time and again, doesn't it.

But what to do, I will eventually have to get another road bike. I can go two ways here; I can do a repeat of the Voyager story, which is to get a frame and build it up, or I can buy a complete bike. Option 2 is easier, but option 1 will result in a bike that better meets my requirements, as well as something that's more personal. Here's a tentative component list:

Frame: steel or titanium, with mounts for a rear rack. I don't know yet whether or not I trust carbon.
Derailers/Brifters: Campagnolo Daytona Centaur. (I still love downtube, but I've finally accepted the Ergopower levers as an acceptable compromise. Still not a fan of the Shimano way of doing it, though.)
Cranks/Bottom Bracket: Shimano Ultegra Triple (I'll admit, I think Hollowtech II is a neat idea, specifically the outboard bearings and two-piece cranks.)
Chain: Wipperman. Or SRAM if they have something that'll work with Campy 10s. Basically I want something with an easy master link. Maybe IRD, I dunno.
Cassette: Now this depends on what sort of rear hub I'll have. Either I'll get all-Campy wheels with a Campy cassette, or I'll get something with the Shimano splined freehub body and I'll get one of the many available aftermarket "conversion" casettes.
Headset/stem: Now this will depend on the fork. I'd prefer threaded with an open-face stem, but will settle for threadless.
Seat: I thought the Specialized Body Glove seat I bought from Il'ya was pretty alright. Before it got stolen. The one I got from Stephanie, which was stock on her Allez, was OK, but not as nice as the one I got from Il'ya. Oh yeah, that one got stolen too.
Pedals: Look was fine, but I'm open to other options. If I end up buying a new bike that has all Campy parts on it, instead of building one with my planned Shimangolo mix, I might get Campy pedals "just because." Speedplay is also an option here.
Brakes: Shimano 105. (I really like the idea of having one set of brake quickreleases on the calipers, and a second on the brifters. Just because.)
Bars: 38cm is nice. Ergo grips, with two sets of grooves for the two sets of cables that will be coming from the Campy brifters. I might consider carbon for this. Cinelli Lux cork tape, because I like it. :)
Wheels: Sort of undecided on this. (See: casette.) I'd prefer not to have something with a silly spoke pattern, but if I buy a bike, this may be unavoidable. Low or medium profile rims. Ideally, radial front and left rear; 2x or 3x (depending on number of spokes) right rear.
