Piper cradled Cally's head in her lap, gently wiping away the tears from the other girl's cheeks.

"I frakked up bad," Cally said, sniffling. "I can't. . . why did I?"

"This is what you get for trying to kiss the wrong people," Piper said. She paused, wondering why she said it, what she had meant.

"S'hard to tell who the right ones are," Cally said. "I mean, you kiss some people, and they say it was all for wrong reasons and stuff, which you kinda have to agree with since you did just to get back at your stupid gay exboyfriend."

Piper frowned, reaching to brush Cally's bangs out of her eyes. "I really am sorry about that," she said.

"S'okay," Cally said with a sniffle. She gezed up into the other girl's eyes, a sad smile spreading across her face. "I guess I keep trying to latch onto what I can't have, that's all."

"You really ought to stop that," Piper replied. "You'll only keep getting yourself hurt."

"What, you don't like bein' here to console me?" Cally let out a soft chuckle.

"I don't like that you have to be consoled," Piper said. "Don't like seeing you cry."

"Don't like cryin' either," Cally said. "But I kinda like havin' you console me."

Piper raised an eyebrow. "You're not doing these things on purpose, are you?"

Cally tried her best to look innocent, even with her wetted cheeks. "Would I do something like that?"

"I really wouldn't put it past you."

"Well fine," Cally said, sitting up. "Be mean like that." She stuck out her lower lip in a pout.

Before Piper really knew what she was doing, she leaned over, as if beckoned by the jutted lip. A kiss, soft and sweet, a moment of simple happiness.

Cally pulled back, her smile changing quickly to a half-frown with an apprehensive eyebrow. "You're not gonna--"

Piper shook her head. "Let's just... words can wait," she said, placing a hand on Cally's shoulder. "Just see what happens."

Cally had no idea, whether it was genuine desire from Piper, whether it was simply an act of pity, whether Piper just didn't want to see Cally cry anymore.

But somehow, at that moment, it really didn't matter why.

The two kissed again, starting gentle but building in intensity, their hands tangling in eachother's hair. They broke apart, but then embraced again, heated and hungry.

It was a very, very good thing Veronica was gone for the weekend.

Because if she'd come home that night, well, she'd have seen a little more of her best friends than she ever really wanted.
