It's been a few days. Oh well.
Yesterday I encountered my boss up to his ears in work that will be divvied out to the proofreaders in the coming weeks, and was asked if I could take on more hours. Hmm. I was hesitant to say anything, wanting to be both a devoted employee and a free spirit who might quit any day, so I mumbled some noncommittal things. Then he suggested that even if Jonny wants some hours, he could hire him on a temporary basis.
And so it is because of this that my husband is going with me to work tomorrow. I think it'll be neat. :)
Oh, the weekend ... a lot happened on the weekend:
1. Went to Mechanicsburg, PA for a Memorial Day party and got to show my husband off a little bit and eat a lot of dessert
2. Went to see Coldplay live in Hershey, PA afterward and it was
AWESOME3. Bought a little flowering plant and put it in a small orange pot out front
4. Went hiking all over Rockville. On the trails, through the forest, through developments, through a party of drunk, passed out, and high mostly-Spanish-speakers who invited us to join them
5. Played Zelda
6. Worked on my sweater
Last night, we spontaneously had Richard and Daniel over for dinner, which was fun. Richard had pictures from his travel abroad, and it was an enjoyment to see them. Gave me the travel bug, although that's not hard to do! I'm entertaining the thought of going to Paris at the end of the summer, but it might be too expensive. Probably will be. Not getting my hopes up, actually.
Also last night, I went to the library close to us for the first time. I was invited to volunteer and at my slightest positive response, I was immediately introduced to the head directer guy there. Turns out I may even be able to scrape a minimum wage out of it. I'd like to see what it's like working in a library, and it seems like a worthwhile thing to do. Plus, the library is soooo close to where we live. I have to take a test (organizing books), so once I review the Dewey Decimal System (oh, if only I could remember what I learned of it in elementary school!) I'll schedule the test. Fun and funness.
Tomorrow, Edward and I are meeting to discuss what on earth we can do, or not do, to Mind Sprocket next! We'll go to our favorite meeting spot, which will hopefully not be overrun by little obnoxious junior high kids this time. Definitely a good way to end the work day ... at a cafe with a friend and literary prospects on the horizon.
