Book Published!

How could I not have thought to post here sooner?  Mind Sprocket's book "Documenting the Unseen" has been published and is available to order.

It can be ordered from here.

Inside:  short stories, poetry, interviews, illustrations, etc.  It's got a little bit of everything for everybody  :)

After posting poetry and short stories online for months and months, we've finally put some of them in print. Awesome! We found some really good authors with some really interesting pieces.

I have to say, at the start, putting this thing together was pretty crazy. First we had to get submissions.  And to get a good submission, it's almost inevitable that there will have to be payment involved.  So we marketed for writers using cash as an incentive. It worked pretty well!  We were getting submissions left and right and could hardly keep up with them.  To our credit, we were pretty organized though.  Then there was choosing which submissions to accept.  That was difficult at times ... extremely easy at others.  Then there was editorial writing.  The three staff members spent hours writing about anything that would fit into this publication ... interesting quotes, lyrics from songs, poetry, little stories of our own, interesting observations.  Then there was layout.  Me and Edward and Jacqueline went to Caribou Coffee (a favorite Mind Sprocket staff meeting place) armed with a stack of note cards, one card for every piece of art or writing, and laid out the magazine.
Then proofing the thing ... ooooh, the proofreading.  That was pretty crazy because we were under a rather literal deadline that we gave ourselves. And there was a lot that had either not been proofread, or had been proofread but somehow managed to get into the book looking like it hadn't been ... and who knows what our designer went through working on this thing from his end. I'm sure it was of a similar caliber to what we did on our editorial end!

And boom. A year later, and a book is born.  How totally cool.
