Hopeful

Finally, finally finally, after checking every so often since I've moved here, there is a need for a piano teacher at zee local music store.I I have an interview on Tuesday.  I could work there. The students would come to me in droves. It would be magical, because not only would what I do actually have an impact on someone's life besides MAYBE an immigration judge, but my wage would increase to something normal for this area.

I have modest dreams for our first home, I think. As long as it holds my giant bedroom suit and has a kitchen and a washer and dryer, I'll be so happy. Right now, none of those things are guaranteed, as we are looking at basement dwellings. Granted, they will be basements in nice new houses, and the ones without kitchens in the basement say that you can use the communal kitchen upstairs. But ooo, a kitchen of my own would be so fun.

While at my parents' house yesterday, a video tape from my past was discovered. I thought it had been lost forever, or taped over, but Mom found it somewhere while looking for one of my piano recitals. It features both high school friends and college friends, and me and Lacey at the rifle range with Dad. It's only been a couple years, but wow I look different. And I feel different.

I can remember how I felt at certain times of my life, and though some things have remained the same (like my impulse to take on as much as I can before dying), my angst about what role music should play in my life, and what I should be doing for work, work, work ... those things haven't changed.
Well, it was just interesting, that's all. There was video of my and Beth and Drew and that was like a completely different lifetime. A piano recital from freshman year.

I could go on and on.

I got a new engagement ring. I felt sort of ridiculous about it, like I'm some typical girl that just can't make up her mind, but the ring I had initially picked couldn't be worn with a wedding band because it was cut funky. It was more like an anniversary ring. I didn't want to wear it on my right hand, so we traded it in on another ring. It's lovely, smaller, and much more delicate. We also got the wedding bands, and that was fun  :)

I'm so excited to get married. Some of the wedding planning panic is subsiding because Jonny is helping me more now and some other things I just decided I don't care about. I just want February to get here already. I've been trying to use up fabric and yarn to clear some Stuff out of my life. I have so much Stuff. I collect it, it's such a pain. I just want to make a bunch of things and ship them all off to an orphanage or something.

It's been a blustery, gray weekend. The sky did some awesome things. I think that every time I look up at the sky, I will be amazed. It's always doing interesting things.
