Magic School Bus

After the hell that was Orientation at work, having a whole three days with no work and no actual plans seemed too good to be true. Luckily, it was just good. Awesome, actually. Funny how not having plans turned into a hell of a weekend.

Friday night I met up with Alli and some other folks at the Cantina and succeeded in staying out late enough so that everyone was asleep when I got home (and yes, I did kind of do that on purpose). Saturday I went shopping with Alli and then we met a friend of hers at Beer Works to watch the game. And then Saturday night was where it got really interesting.

JD reminded me that Shacklett's band, Lucid, was playing in Cambridge that night, so he and I headed to the People's Republic, specifically to the Asgard, to see the show. When JD left around 12:30 to go flirt, I decided to stay for the second set. I didn't mind being there alone and I was having fun, so I figured why not? During the second set I was alternately talking with a group of law students from Harvard and flirting with the bar back. This was a terrible idea, given that he was 22 and looked more than a little like my ex. But whatever.

When the bar closed down, Shacklett and the rest of the guys suggested I hang out and ride the bus back to their fried Grubby's house in Lincoln. And since I was promised scrambled eggs upon arrival, I agreed. And that's how I ended up riding in a painted school bus with 6 men to a random house in the burbs. I ate eggs with hot sauce and drank Long Trail IPA. I went to bed at 6 and woke up at 11. I stayed there all damn day with Grubby (whose actual name was Bob) and his family and the band and ate the best chicken off the grill I've ever had. And I didn't get home till 8PM last night.

Certainly not how I thought my night would go- but a more than pleasant surprise. And today I slept ridiculously late, cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, and living room, and am presently on my deck. I really can't complain.

Oh- and I downloaded a bunch of random '90s R&B stuff from iTunes today, all because I heard some of it in the fitting room at Old Navy on Saturday. So my neighbors are probably LOVING the En Vogue.

out and about, people's republic of cambridge
