I'm getting old, because I'm repeating myself. Kind of.
See what I mean?
Actually it's not so much that I've gone senile. It's just that this weekend has consisted of Crescendo and Josh's birthday for two years in a row now, so the experience is likely to be somewhat similar.
Crescendo was a blast, which is weird for me to say because I wasn't actually at the event this year. I worked in check-in/out and was in the Marriott ballroom all night. But I enjoyed it, and it went very smoothly. The highlight of my night was making the acquaintance of a fabulous drag queen. Because really, what is Crescendo without a queen or seven? Our conversation went like this:
"I need to check in, I believe my reservation is under my brother's name."
"OK, yup...here he is! Would you like to put a credit card number on file so that you can check out more quickly if you win any auction items tonight?"
"Why yes- my brother lent me his card!"
"You have a very generous brother!"
At the end of the night I happened to see him in the ladies' room.
"Honey, are you here for my credit card again?"
"Why, no, I would never dream of interrupting a lady in the middle of her toilette."
"Oh, honey, you're not interrupting me. I'm done."
On Sunday (after a surprise visit from an old Navy buddy, haha) I went out to Franklin for Josh's party. One of the gifts my mom gave him was Transformers underwear, and boy, were they a hit. He kept holding them up and yelling, "Optimus Prime Underpants!" Of course I forgot to put the damn memory card back in my camera so I have no pictures. Suck.
Before I left I had this gem of a conversation with Olivia:
"I know where I'm going to college."
"Oh really? Where?"
"Harvard University."
"Why do you want to go there, Liv?"
"Because we read a book in school about how Helen Keller wanted to go to Harvard University, and she didn't get to go. But if I went it would be easy because I could just take the train there."
I explained how college is special, and unlike regular school when you go wherever is near your house, you can go ANYWHERE! But she wasn't swayed. Yet.
