Not As Beautiful As You...

This morning Tom walked to work with me. He'd stayed over last night due to my apartment's proximity to both Fenway and his barber. Anyhoo...we were headed down Kent Street when we saw a HERD of turkeys on Longwood Mall. No joke, there were at least four of them, maybe five. Tom asked if I had my camera, and when I said no, he tried taking a couple photos with his phone. Keep in mind, we both grew up in the burbs and have seen our share of turkeys, but a group of them is a rare sight. Also I didn't call Tom "Clark Griswold" during our Italy trip for no reason. He loves to take pictures.

So he's taking pictures, and I'm saying, "Please be careful...please be careful..." because I'm afraid the turkeys will see him and freak out. They seemed not to notice...until he was about to walk away, and one of them CHARGED at us, making that angry gobbling noise like the killer turkeys from South Park. I screamed and ran across the street, and he followed. Lucky for us, the turkey was disinclined to cross the street.

After that our conversation went like this:

Me: "What were you going to do if it crossed the street?"
Tom: "Punch you in the arm and keep running."
Me: "No, you would get in between me and the turkey. Because you love me."
Tom: "I do. I also love living."

*pause*

Me: "Look at how they foam at the mouth! Like beautiful suds of beer!"
Tom: "Not as beautiful as you."
