This past weekend was the only one in June when Tom and I didn't have to attend a wedding. (For those keeping score, we had the Bartley-Dion festivities on the 6th, and we have one the 21st and one the 29th.) Because having a relaxing weekend at home is for chumps, we went to New York for the weekend. The stated purpose was to see
The 39 Steps (I'd gotten Tom tickets for his birthday), but we used the opportunity to see some friends while we were there.
We stayed in New Haven with Brian and Kelly and Paris Hilton (their cat) on Friday, had dinner with Mike Large after the show on Saturday (thanks for braving the rain, Large!), and spent Saturday night at a loud, crowded, and expensive bar called Forum near Union Square with a bunch of Tom's Georgetown friends who are working in the city for the summer. Despite the fact that I am not usually a fan of the crowded, the loud, or the expensive, I had an excellent time. I guess once in a while I like to remember what my going-out days were like at Hofstra. Ahh, memories. Tom's friend Jill was nice enough to let us stay at her place, which for the summer is a dorm at NYU. That was also a bit of a flashback, but it was great to have a place to stay, so no complaints here.
The show, incidentally, was amazing. And we had awesome seats- center mezzanine, 2nd row. Score.
Unrelated to any of this, for quality laughs, go check out
Garfield Minus Garfield. The daily Garfield strip, minus the cat, which exposes Jon Arbuckle as the lonely, depressed, and slightly unhinged individual he truly is. Awesome. I give you one of my favorites, under the cut:
