Playing with other kid's toys

Jul 08, 2009 23:36

Some boys grow up to need bigger toys than other boys.

This is one of my latest customer's toys. 65' Macgregor sailboat up for rigging wire replacement and prop work. Now boat nerds everywhere know better what a Macgregor sailboat should look like. Something more like this:

Kidding! That's a sink test gone right. This 26' boat is full of emergency flotation foam in hidden compartments. It cannot sink, much like a canoe. Here's a better image what what the Macgregor 26' is advertised as. A powersailer.

Note the tiny woman lounging the passion pit aft of the companionway ladder. She must be really small because the boat is not that big!

But lets get back to the 65' Macgregor. Now, my employer build his own 70' race sailboat to compete in and win the Pacific Cup with back in 1993. That's a nice boat. This one, the Macgregor, does the job, but sorry, it's just a big equally plastic version of the 26' model. Anyhow, it's still a unique boat, and very rare, so I'm please to be able to play with it a little in the next few weeks.

I've included some images of mast my team and I unstepped and details I particularly find interesting.

Hope you enjoyed a little insight into my world. Now I've gotta get back to work...
