Gimpy and Baby have returned!
After being gone for over a month, both Gimpy and Baby Squirrel made an appearance today. It rained all day and was generally icky damp weather, and I guess they decided they didn't want to go too far abroad for food. They were a little shier than they had been, but they definately knew where the best foods were hiding. I ran for the suet balls that I made just for Gimpy, who is the only squirrel who seems to like them, and she grabbed one up and scampered away, and I didn't see her again. Must hide prize yummy from everyone else and savor.
Baby stayed much longer to stuff his little round baby-face with black oil sunflower seeds. Bruiser showed up once and swaggered over to chase him away (yes, Bruiser even has a swagger-walk, such a bully!), but I distracted him with a peanut. Bruiser then buried said peanut, peed on the spot, and went across the road, satisfied that he had marked his domain. Baby then took another peanut over to the same area, buried it, and peed on THAT spot. Ah, spring!
