Woo-hoo! Mike and I actually booked our trip to Paris last night! Unfortunately, there was some confusion about if we had been assigned seats on the airplane after we bought the package online, but I got that all smoothed out this morning. On the website (
STA Travel) it made us choose seats on the plane, but when the confirmation printed out at the end, it said, "check in for seat assignment". I wanted to be sure that Mike and I had assigned seats for the flights (we're less likely to get bumped in case of over-book) and more snottily, I wanted to sit next to him instead of the random draw of crying child, smelly man, or farty woman. A quick call to the customer service line of the company we booked with--some other travel package company, not STA--and we got out seats confirmed for us.
We resisted taking seats 24AB both ways--those were Jack's seats on "Lost". I decided not to tempt fate because I am a Lost-believer. Also, I just realized that I'm going to miss a new episode of the show when I'm gone, so I'm going to set my VCR.
We're going to fly out on the night of October 15th, 2005 from O'Hare (ORD) and arrive in Paris (CDG) the next morning. We have eight nights in Paris, flying back home on the 24th midday. We still have to submit for our passports, but I have all of my info together so I'm going to submit next week after Mike's mom gets home from a retreat she's working at (we don't know where she was born).
Anyway, we're getting really excited, and the best part is that we'll have paid off the airfare and hotel fees before we even leave for Paris. Now we just have to figure out what we want to see when we're there? Any suggestions? (
McSweeney's suggests
Rodin's Door to Hell, which I want to see very much.)
