So... the plan is for me to have a weekend at home. Am not there yet, naturally, but Dad is talking about taking a trip to Kdy this aft (he's working just now, poor bloke) to pick something up from Rejects, which only exists in Kirkcaldy through here now. So he'll drop me off while doing that. I'll then stay until some point on Monday - visiting my own church on Sunday, though plans are a bit up in the air for the 'after church' bit there. Shall see what happens.
The rest of the week is quite busy. I'm going through to Edinburgh on Tuesday to meet up with a friend from Uni there. Will be interesting. We get on OK, and I met her at CLAN a few years back, but we were never really close and this will be the first time we've actually arranged to do something together. Will need to have collar and cuff on me I think - that's just the sort of crowd I've still got it for using in!!! I'm then hoping to meet my Dad and get a lift home with him, but we shall see on that score. Douglas is supposed to be coming home as it's Dad's birthday, but I'll likely not get to see much of him - I've got a meeting to go to in the evening - all about the stuff needing done for Guides. Which will probably be starting back soon after that.. Well, the following Monday will be inservice day as teachers go back, so the following week will be the first Monday of term... will be interested to see how it all works out.
Wednesday has no plans as yet. Probably just as well - I think I might want a break after how busy Tuesday will be, and on Thursday I've a 9am dr's appointment. See what the parents Dr has to say about my arm and returning to work and the like. Not too sure what she'll do. Work have said that if I can get her to agree for me to return to work they can contact OH and say that GP has passed me as fit for work (which one of the other gp's would have done even before I had my last OH appt - something which strikes me as rather interesting given how vehement the OH nurse was about how not fit to return to work I was!!!) and that the appt will be about exactly I need in the way of light duties etc. The first dr I saw who wanted to return me to work was insistant that she wouldn't sign me back for light duties until OH had the chance to say what they felt I needed. Work is fully aware that it will likely be light duties/phased return I get, so all is happy there. And I think I'd say that am fit again. OK, arm isn't fully well, but it's get-by able. Thing is, I'd have said that each stage of my recovery. It's only as I get better that I realise how I've not been up to par before now. Mind, I was wiped last week. Completely and utterly wiped. Obviously that phased return is definitely needed if trying to take things quietly, for CLAN, can completely deplete my energy store and make it take most of the week to recover. Anyway, I'll see the Dr on Thurs, and after another appointment on Friday morning I think I'll plan on returning to Cardenden for another weekend - off the back of which I shall head to Glenrothes for 9am to meet up with a colleague and the go to my next OH appointment. Shall see what they say there and move on from that point. I know I've physio again that week - 4 weeks after my last appt (cause I had a week on holdiay, physio then had 2, and I'm then to be transferred to someone else the week he gets back again). Of course, the situ has changed quite a bit since I last saw him, in that I can now touch the back of my head with my left hand!!! Thoguh I still need to wait and see the consultant in Oct, I think I can fairly safely say that I don't think I'll need an op any more. Lengthy business though it has been.
Now all I need is a routine really! There's talk of my possibly going to Ed in a few Saturdays time to spend some time with Douglas, and his girlfriend Laura, which will be nice. Anyway, I think this is enough for the moment. Will try to update as to what is happening as time goes on.
