Writer's Block: Freewill vs. fate

Oct 08, 2011 22:39

Love, as all other things, is destined.  From the first breath we take, from our ancestors first breaths, from the first breath upon the flame of the universe....all things have been fated.  My genes were decided long before I gained conciousness, and my mothers genes were decided before I was even a distant concept.  My genes influence those around me, my environment is built and interpreted the only way I possibly can.  I have no will, because though at any time I could "choose" my genes and environment will always compell me, guiding my hand to the choice I was bound to make.

I was destined to love Dave from the moment I was conceived.  Our traits are so evenly matched, our histories so wonderfully complimentary, our entire beings so perfect for one another, like two halves of a whole.  It was fated that at this moment, we would be together.  All that we have come through, past lovers, past struggles have only served to prepare us for this moment that is ours.

Perhaps in the future we will look back and see this moment as another step in the staircase.  Maybe our fates will lead us away from eachother.  But through having had this moment, we have become an integral part of who the other person fundamentally is.  For better or worse, we are forever changed by the people we at one point consider ours.

Our experiences and how we interpret them make us who we are...make our choices for us....and determine our lives and loves.

It could be no other way.
