Security blankets...
I just let go, a little, of one of my security blankets. I cut about 8 inches off my hair, so its just below shoulder length. I'm not sure if I'm happy about it yet, it is however as short as I can cut it on my own. I'll go to a salon and get a style soon I suspect.
I had to cut that much to get above my split ends, but I think I also did it to let go of that security. I defined myself in part by my long hair, and yeah, its still long, but its not long enough to be a security blanket. Harder to hide behind. Still, not that much of a change yet, its still longish, still the same lack of style. If I'm trying to let go of the security blanket, I'll have to work a bit harder :).
We'll see what happens in a month. I'll probably go to a salon and get a real style and maybe color, I'm thinking plum :)
In the long run, It will grow back if I want it to. It wasn't growing well, it had horrendous split ends. I loved having really long hair, but to do it right, I need to take better care of it, and myself from the get go.
