Thank you, very much. It honestly means a lot to me to hear that sort of thing about my writing. Especially about my characterization - I've had a couple of plot bunnies that I've regretfully thrown out because although the concept was interesting, I couldn't come up with a way to do it that didn't feel somewhat out-of-character for one or both of them.

I now try to stay away from Zane!Sylar when I'm writing, because he was pretending for such a short period of time and there are so many people who've written about it, that it becomes hard to find a new way of looking at it. But this prompt, together with the intent of the community that I took it from, just kept drawing me back to that road trip, and the way that even in canon, Mohinder was seesawing between being genuinely happy at having a friend, and being uneasy. And also, I liked the thought of it looking at them in bed as...well, kind of awkward, especially when they're finished, and Mohinder's lying there with a vaguely uneasy feeling and a bit of a freakout, and Sylar's thinking about the ability he wants to go collect and maybe having conflicted feelings about what he's just done with Mohinder.
