So, I decided that I would cosplay as Feferi since I don't see too many people cosplaying as her. I'll even so some tutorials for her in case anyone wants to do 'em!
So, I guess I should go over what I have made so far~
Shirt:
I just bought a black t-shirt at AC Moore, and then turned it into a sleeveless black top.
As for putting the symbol I just traced it. I went on this site:
http://www.colorcompany.ca/blog/your-2011-colour-horoscope to trace it.
Cut it out, taped it to the shirt
Pulled off the symbol, then painted the rest:
These are the two colors I used: rhapsody red and magenta.
(It took about five-six coats of paint, I can't really remember... Sorry! Just do six to be on the safe side!)
Bam! Shirt is done! That was easy. 38) Jewelry:
Let's start with her golden anklets/cuffs/necklace. What I did was buy white duct tape and gold spray paint from Wal-Mart. I took some duct tape and folded it on itself. Then I went outside, sprayed it with my gold spray paint, attacked some duct tape on the inside, and BAM. This is what it looks like
(With the necklace, you'll want to fold it long ways. OR HOT DOG WAYS FOR SOME PEOPLE.)
Now for her colorful jewelry! First, I bought blue, green and pink yarn. I bought this at AC Moore. Real.. I mean reel cheap!:
So basically.. you're gonna have to do some braiding! For the pink and blue bracelets, I took two strands of pink and one of blue. Tied them all together, and started braiding. After I finished braiding 'em, I tied 'em together once more. I did the same for the blue and green bracelets, except I used two blue and one green. Do the same for your other hand so you have a total of FOUR BRACELETS (two for each hand, derp). This is what they look like for me:
As for the necklaces, I'm not sure how I really want to do them. So far, what I did for them was this:
Braid a thing of three pink strands together (x2), and then braid a thing of three blue strands (only 1). After I did that, I tied my three braids together, and then braided the three braids together once more. I did the same with the green/blue one, just used two blue braids and one green. Tied it together one last time and this is what I got:
I'm not sure if I want to make 'em like this or make 'em like my bracelets, just longer (again derp). BUT, THIS IS WHAT I DID SO FAR.
So, that's Fef's jewelry! Again, pretty simple, right?
Okay, so her trident is next. Basically, I bought a stick at AC Moore and used my gold spray paint to paint it gold. Now, I haven't completed my trident yet, since I'm waiting for some of my magic mold to dry, but I'll tell you what I plan on doing for this bad boy. I attached some magic mold on the tip, giving it that point, and I'm gonna do the same thing to the other side. This is what it looks like so far:
As you can see, I need to sand that point to make it look smooth and even. Once it dries, I'll do that and show you guys. Then out of magic mold, I'ma make those.. other.. pointy.. things.. WHATEVER THEY'RE CALLED, drill a hole in 'em and on the stick, screw 'em in, and super glue it for extra support. After that, add more spray paint! <3
Feferi's hair: Okay, so I bought my wig at Katsucon. I basically got a looooong curly wig (It was only $40.00, pretty good for a wig that I can actually add heat to with out damaging it! Plus, it like.. never really tangles. woot woot!). I have bangs with my wig. I just took bobby pins, and pinned 'em back. Here's a picture of my wig:
(I made it black and white to try to make my skin gray since I don't have my troll paint yet. THAT FAILED)
It's really curly in the back, but I still want to add some volume to it before I wear it for Otakon. Once I figure that out, I'll make sure to let you guys know ASAP! <3
Goggles: So I haven't made these yet, but I have an idea. No, I'm not going out to buy a pair of goggles. First of all, I'm a person that wears glasses and just CAN'T WEAR CONTACTS FOR SOME REASON. MY EYE LIKE.. FLIPS SHIT AND GETS ALL SCARED AND IS LIKE, "PLEASE NO, SQUISH. DON'T DO THIS TO ME. I GIVE YOU THE GIFT OF SIGHT." What I usually do is wear my glasses and when someone asks for a picture, I just take 'em off. So if I bought goggles I would either A: have to keep switching them back and forth, which would be hella annoying or B: just wear my goggles and be blind. Plus, I can't find any goggles in Royal purple, or whatever Fef's blood color is. What I decided to do was buy a cheap pair of glasses, use magic mold around 'em, and then paint them. Again, I'm not 100% sure how this will work, but all I know is that it'll be a lot easier switching between those and my glasses vs. goggles and my glasses. Once I get a pair of glasses to use, I'll post more information.
Horns: Again, I haven't COMPLETED THEM YET, but I started on 'em! I just took one of my horns to show you. I don't really want to move 'em around took much since I want them to dry and not lose their shape. SO SO SO I'm using magic mold (AGAIN. MM IS BASICALLY GOD, OKAY?) to form them. This is what one of my horns looks like:
As you can tell, I have to sand it down. So far, no cracks! But, we'll see in three days once it dries.
I'll be using these colors for the horns:
(Again, the webcam makes the colors look really bright.)
I added a hole on the bottom of my horns, and with bobby pins, I'll attach them to my headband.
After that, I'll super glue 'em to give them more support.
Remember, like I said before, if you're going to work with magic mold, it takes about three-five days to dry. SO PLEASE DON'T WORK ON THESE BEFORE A CON. Get them out of the way as soon as possible! You don't know if they'll crack, or even worse break! Plus, most likely, they won't be perfect after they dry, so you'll want to sand 'em down with sandpaper. Oh! After I paint my horns and after they dry, I'm going to add a gloss to them to make 'em more shiny!
Troll skin: I'm buy Ben Nye's creme. I'm buying white x2, gray x2, and steel gray x1. I'm also buying powder puff, transparent powder, and Ben Nye Final Seal. Make sure you wash your face when doing the troll paint! After I wash my face and mix the 1 white and the 1 gray together, and add some primer to my face, get some makeup wedges and start applying your makeup! Evenly dab it on your face, don't just paint it on normally. After you finish your face, you'll want to add some shading.~ This is where the steel gray comes in handy. You should add this steel gray to the apples of your cheeks, a little bit inbetween your eyebrows, your temple area, around your jawline and on the center of your chin. Blend it together, then. Now you want to powder THE FUCK OUT OF YOUR FACE. Seriously, your face should look all white. Feel around your face lightly to make sure it isn't sticky. If not, take a brush, and just brush off the powder. That will help keep your making from smudging and coming off. You're gonna want to fill in your eyebrows, though. I'm just using some black eyeliner for this. After you apply all the makeup you need (like eye makeup, lipstick, and all that jazz), use your final seal! IT IS GOD. OR A GODDESS. BECAUSE MAGIC MOLD IS STILL GOD. Remember, depending on what troll you cosplay as will determine how much troll paint you need. Since Feferi doesn't wear sleeves, you'll need a lot! That's why I'm getting two whites and two grays plus one steel gray. If you don't feel like using all that paint, then get a skin tight gray shirt to wear under your zodiac shirt. Just make sure it'll match with your Troll skin. Since Feferi wears a skirt, I'm just going to wear gray tights. OH AND PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR FACE BEFORE YOU DO YOUR HANDS. YOU SHOULD DO THAT LAST. ALSO, DO NOT WEAR YOUR COSPLAY CLOTHES WHILE DOING THIS. It won't come off very well unless you wash it. ;( For the teeth, I'll be using Tooth Black.
Skirt: Sadly, I can't sew clothes. My mom's friend is making the skirt for me. I'm so sorry! D8 She's make it for me for basically nothing. IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE CLOTHES, TALK TO THEM PL0X. THEY'LL BE NICE AND HOPEFULLY WON'T CHARGE YOU ANYTHING.
Shoes: I'm getting ballet shoes and dying them~
Gills: Magic mold, magic mold, magic mold! I drew the gills out on a piece of paper for a start base. Then, flattening out the magic mold, I put the paper shaped gill on the magic mold. When I pulled the paper off, it left a gill shape. So I took a knife and cut the extra mold stuff off. Then, add some gray spray paint/regular paint and BAM. DONE. When it dries, I'll be gluing some rubber bands so I can attach them to my ears. This is what one of my gills looks like:
Again, I'll be using sandpaper to make it smooth. I DON'T KNOW WHY I PAINTED IT. UUGGGHHHH. I'm stoopid, that's why.
Tiara: This is the last time I'll be mentioning magic mold. So, I'll draw it out on a piece of paper, flatten some MM, put the paper on, and take it off once it leaves a mark, just like the gills. Before it dries, however, I'll be attaching bobby pins on the side so I can attach them to my wig and take it off easily. Once it is dry, and nice and smooth, I'll spray paint it. At AC Moore (That's my store, man!), I found PERFECT gems to super glue.
After it's spray painted, I'll paint on the little Pisces symbol and baaaaaaaam! DOOOONNNNNEEEEE.
I think that's everything.. If I forgot something, or you're confused about something, please leave a comment or private message!~ <3 I hope this helps some people. :> THIS IS MY FIRST COSPLAY TUTORIAL. HHHHHNNNGGGGGGG. Go easy on me. ; n ;
