Have some pictures and recipes.

We did an experimental cooking thing for a couple days-we each found a recipe on the internet that we liked, adjusted it to suit our needs, and did it up.

So here's pictures and instructions and stuff.

Kyle's offering: Chicken with sauteed onions, garlic, bacon, spices and cheese.

Start out with some bacon. Bacon=awesome. Cook that up in your pan until it's crispy.

Chop your onions (one whole onion for 2 breasts) and garlic (3 cloves for 2 breasts) while the bacon cooks.

Get your chicken goin in the same pan the bacon was in. Kyle opted to drain most of the bacon grease and cook the chicken in olive oil and a touch of butter, but you can just do it in the bacon grease if you're feeling especially "I don't give a fuck today".

The bacon goes in here until the very end. It's just a tupperware thing. Chop up the bacon, btw.

There's your onions, garlic, and seasoning to taste (we just used salt and pepper). After the chicken is done cooking, transfer it to a plate, and then

dump the onions and garlic into the same pan you used for the bacon AND the chicken. Cook those suckers down until they're nice and brown.

Put some shredded cheese atop each chicken breast, and then put the bacon on, and then spoon on the onions and garlic.

OMNOMNOMNOM. Oh my lord it was fucking delicious. So glad I married a man that can cook ;)

My offering: Croissant Tacos. Yes, you read that right.

I unabashedly stole this from layers_of_eli from her post in food_porn.

Anyway. I did alter the recipe she used slightly to suit my tastebuds and Kyle's OCD in the food department. (The baby did not partake of the experiments-he had his own special food I cooked for him, details in blueeyeddoom later.)

Get a pack of frozen crescent roll dough stuff. I got the Pillsbury kind. CAREFULLY unroll onto a baking sheet.

Cook up your ground whatever-we used beef, but I'm sure chicken, turkey, etc works just as well. Add spices if you like-I added salt, pepper, and Tony Chachere's seasoning. We love that stuff.

Anyway.

Pile the beef and some shredded cheese on the wide ends of the unrolled dough.

Roll up carefully (and not too tightly or the dough will split), and then seal any openings with a pinch. Pile cheese on top.

Bake them according to the crescent roll directions. Mine said to bake them for 16 minutes at whateverthehell degrees-I did, and they were a little burnt on the bottom. YMMV.

Ooooh. Come to mama, baby.

They were AWESOME.

Of course the following night after all this awesome, I had my favorite standby:

Pork and beans. Oh hell yes.

I know I have a wide and varied selection of people from many countries on my list-let's share some recipes :) It's getting towards winter here in America, and that's always a great time to share and cook.

kyle, omg yay, recipes, lj, holy shit people, learning is fundamental, food, share with the group, pictures, drumroll please
