"He should have been back by now!" Rodney mutters, pacing the control room, glancing up at the gate every few minutes. "Time?" he asks.
"47 minutes since we lost the 'jumper contact. But that's more than likely just because he's maintaining radio silence," Woolsey states.
Rodney taps his fingers on the console, Chuck raising his eyebrows and staring at the man. That's 18 hours since Sheppard left (without letting Rodney know first), and 47 minutes since they lost contact. "Fine," Rodney admits. He checks the time once more, judging that if this goes on for much longer, Evan Lorne (who's already pacing the gateroom floor) and he will man a rescue mission on their own if they have to. He tries sitting down, but only fidgets, getting up a couple of minutes later and heading to Major Lorne when the gate comes alive, Chuck's voice booming, "Unscheduled offworld activation." The only person Rodney knew who liked Halloween as much as he did was John Sheppard, but he was nowhere to be found. Rodney checked the few obvious places, finally giving up at dinnertime. He shared a meal with Ronon and Teyla, then begged off an invitation from the sciences team to watch a Doctor Who marathon to go back to his own quarters and be alone. "I was saving those for John, anyway," he mutters.
Rodney goes into his quarters and changes, puttering around for a few minutes before he sits down on his messy bed.
He stands up immediately when his bed exclaims, "Owwwww..."
"Sheppard?!" Rodney practically yells, pulling the covers off to reveal Colonel John ( ... )

It was the first Halloween after the Atlantis expedition had left Earth, and Elizabeth Weir had somehow known to come prepared - colorful bags filled with treats sitting on a table next to her office door for the senior staff meeting, which Aiden was all too happy to grab and dig into.
Hours later, and now sitting in McKay's quarters on a couch Rodney had pilfered from one of the abandoned Ancient labs, Aiden was starting to dig into his bag of treats once again, McKay tossing him a questioning look.
"You're like a big kid," Rodney says.
"Hey, everybody like candy," Aiden manages around a mouthful of taffy. Looking around, he asks, "Where's your bag, anyway?"
Rodney sits on the sofa next to Aiden, leaning into the man as he focuses on a physics journal. "Put away for later," he says, redlining part of the article.

"Elizabeth," John calls as Elizabeth Weir walks to her office. He's been cooped up in the infirmary for a couple of weeks while he finishes the therapy to complete the transformation back to fully human form, and the time out of the loop was getting to him.
"Should you be up?" Elizabeth asks. Sheppard notices the slightly defensive posture that she's taken, memory of his near-assault of the woman in his quarters still fresh in his mind.
Giving her a smile, John says, "Yeah, well, I got tired of staring at the walls. And McKay and I've watched every single season of Doctor Who. Twice. I'm just itching to do something." After a beat, he raises his hand to rub the back of his neck, and says, "Plus, I wanted to apologize."
It kills John that Elizabeth once again flinches ever so slightly. "It's okay, Colone-"
"No it's not," John manages, voice firmer than he'd wanted. He reaches out, putting a hand ( ... )
