In this day and age I had to explain to someone that you get colds from micro organisms and not from being exposed to a cold temprature.
Seriously, do people not even understand the rudiments of science yet?

Of course, cold temperatures can have the effect of supressing the immune system, which can lead to unchecked viral infection, which causes what we call the common cold.

Yes, but that is a contributing variable, not the actual cause of a cold, which is the immue reaction to the infection.
It should also be noted the main reason that colds are prevalent in cold weather is because people congrigate indoors, which puts them in much closer contact, which is an infectious virii's dream.
