So ever since I got my car, I've been consistently going 5 over and I would get impatient if forced to go anything slower. Before I would usually go maybe 3 over and wouldn't mind a lower speed so long as the speed limit or higher.
I drove home from Eugene this morning with just enough time to get to my noon class taking 99W. As I drove through Monroe, I reflected on how I haven't even seen a police car on 99, let alone someone pulled over. Naturally, less than a minute out of the little town of Monroe, I see flashing lights behind me. I watched, waiting for the cop car to pass the person behind me, who I believe was going the same speed as me, but it turned out that the guy behind me was the one being pulled over. Then I passed two more cop cars traveling in the opposite direction in the next 5 minutes. Then I went the speed limit the rest of the way to Corvallis. Seems like one of those days where my mom would tell me, "don't speed today, there are more cops out for the holiday traffic."
I think the speed demon (for 5 over anwyay) has died in me. At least for today. He might just be sleeping and wake up again tomorrow for the drive to Portland.
