last night was the most wonderful impromptu date in history <3
i had heard on the radio that the ice skating at centennial park was open til 11, so brian really wanted to go and ended up dragging me along. we walked there from his apartment and it was verrrry chilly. we held hands a little and i loved it! walked through the park a bit, which is looking adorable these days all lit up and whatnot, and were about to rent skates when we found out it closed down at 10, not 11 (thanks a lot, radio guy). but brian said we may as well make a night of it and that we should go to hardrock for some dessert. and of course i thought that was a splendid idea. well in walking to the restaurant we were passing the westin hotel, the REALLLLLY tall one with the sundial restaurant on top, when brian had the marvelous idea of going inside and seeing if we can take the elevator to the top...
well, inside the hotel things was all warm and happy with men in suits all over the place. there was also a gingerbread house (100% real!!) the size of a treehouse! it was so awesome and smelled happy. inside there was a small christmas tree and a nutcracker guarding the door. i got a picture of brian in front of it. i loved that gingerbread house.
then, we found out we could just ride the elevator all the way to the top. brian thought we'd have to pay a few bucks, but maybe since it was 10 on a sunday night no one cared. well, we got in and i was so amazed because the elevator is see-through, and on the exterior of the building, so you can look out at everything while atlanta gets farther and farther beneath you. it was so awesome, i'd never seen anything like it before. i had no idea how tall the westin is but holy moly it was like being in an airplane. brian said some hilarious thing about how its "nice to get away from the hussle-bustle of the city" or something. haha what a card.
when we got to the top we were in the sundial restaurant, which is pretty darn expensive. we went to the revolving area where people were having drinks in red chairs overlooking half of georgia. brian and i sat down for a while and looked out at everything. we tried to order some cokes and dessert there, but since brian hadn't showered and i was wearing a crap t-shirt and ripoff chucks, and since we werent ordering any alcohol, no one paid much attention to us. we sat there for a while just looking at everything and then decided to leave. on the way down, watching the streets come back into view again and all the lights becoming clearer, brian put his arm around me and kissed me a bunch and held me all close and said "oh wittle kewwy" a couple times and i almost died of happiness.
the night came to a close when we ended up at hardrock at long last and shared the huge brownie sundae, which we devoured in about 2 minutes. on the walk back home, i somehow got to talking about my grandma and how beautiful her life and death were and how i still see her in my dreams sometimes and brian put his arm around me again while i cried a few happy tears. life is so amazing sometimes.
i really love the buddy of mine <3
this weekend was great in other ways too! i put the first presents under our tree on saturday, ones i'd wrapped up for my brother, dad, and sister. i also got to have starbucks with kellie on sunday and ended up staying there chatting with her for 3 hours. that girl means so much to me and so did the peppermind mocha frappuccino i enjoyed. hot diggety!
my finals are no big deal this semester, so i'm basically counting the hours til brian and i get on that plane to the big apple. boy oh boy oh boy!
