I started re-reading Skulduggery Pleasant, since I realized that a) I never read the last (two?!) books, and b) it's a little boring watching Baco run around fighting things in Dragon Age, but dialogue happens to frequently for me to actually start working on things.
The one thing I dislike about the books is how obvious the bad guys are. Everyone who is cool and charming is a good guy (with the possible exception of China, of course, but that's also obvious), and everyone else is just kind of there. The bad guys are EVIL and the adults are BORING and of course don't want to do anything and are filled with bureaucracy.
Also, I never like the chapters that focus on the villains, I suspect because it's just about how evil the villains are.
ANYWAY. Everything else is great. I am reminded of how much I love Tanith: she is badass and friendly. I love how many KICKASS ladies there are! Skulduggery is dorkishly charming with his bad jokes and laughing at himself (...in the way of, man, my jokes are awesome, not in the way of, haha, I know I'm lame, which somehow makes him more charming, I don't know). And Stephanie is an awesome heroine, and I really love that she doesn't start out being SUPER GOOD AT MAGIC. She's just really good at getting into trouble and then getting herself back out, with a lot of scrapes along the way.
Oh, and an update about Dragon Age, while I'm at it!
Zevran is not nearly the slut I thought he was going to be. What is this, actually having to make him like me first? And here I was, thinking he'd just fall into bed with me.
...I should add that Baco's character has not actually slept with anyone yet. In fact, we, uh, just got Zevran in our party a little bit ago and haven't even had a decent conversation with him yet. (Although I was very amused at the position he chose to lay in for our conversation about why he wanted to join our party.)
