Brother Cavil is a Cylon. The man he spilled his guts to, the man who reassured him that he isn’t a Cylon, is mother-frakking Cylon. Tyrol has never been a man who enjoys irony.
Maybe he should doubt himself again, but he doesn’t. There’s no good reason to believe a word that Toaster said - it could all have been lies, just to keep Tyrol from taking a long stroll off a short catwalk in the hanger bay - but he can’t afford to think that way, or he won’t be able to go on. And he has to go on, because he’s a man, he’s a human, and that’s what humans do. They go on.
Like Cally. She hasn’t given up - not back on Kobol and not now - nor has she given up on him. He’s promised himself he’s going to make this up to her, and he’s resolved to do it, no matter how hard it is to face what he’s done. Seeing her, reliving that moment… In this one way, Tyrol envies the Cylons - with their transferred consciousnesses and their resurrection ships. They can hide a while in death.
