Black Water
I haven't posted anything for a loooong time. However, I do have some news ...
I auditioned for Off-Center Opera here in Seattle for their production of Black Water, an American opera based off of a book of the same name by author Joyce Carol Oates. It has been brought to the operatic stage by composer John Duffy.
Although the book's catalyst is the Chappaquiddick tragedy involving Senator Edward Kennedy and resulting in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, it diverts from it significantly; the only elements utilized are an unnamed Senator (the tenor lead) and submerging of the car as the tragic ending.
I play the role of Graeme, an attendee at a party that a large part of the opera is set in.
Performances are August 12, 13, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 24, 26 and 27.
