I've been really slack about updating. Sydney was great, Melbourne was great. I'm just too tired to go into it all - it was a really long weekend, and a long story to tell. But I had an amazing night on both Saturday (Hanging with my burlesque bitchez) and Sunday (S. & Caroline Nin!)
I had my STAT yesterday; hopefully I will get a good score so I can do some part time study (probably by correspondence).
I'm making a fanmix for S. now; going to send it with some nougat and a book in a care package later this week (when I get paid). My card is overdrawn and everything.
I think November is going to be my celebration month from now on; I plan to keep Christmas low key, a time to be with loved ones, to sing carols, to give them a small something that means a lot.
Talking to Goddess Leonie has made me feel better about the APS - I can explore my true passions part time.
I really want to learn to drive this year. And get out of debt. Which I can TOTALLY do. I am woman, hear me roar.
I bought a book on reading tarot court cards from Adyar in Sydney, and one called "the double goddess". I have to wait until next weekend, when my dad is next in town and can bring them with him as I didn't have room for them in my suitcase!!
Having a lazy day; I want to make nougat, but I don't have any corn/glucose syrup (you need to add it to the sugar water in ADDITION - go figure). At least I got confectioner's rice paper - yay Manuka Fine Foods (I need to take my dad there!)
I had my health assessment at work this week; apparently I'm healthy apart from my waist/hip measurement, which I knew already. A lot of that is probably my youth, but I'm thinking I'll cancel my gym membership; I never use it anyway. That isn't to say that I am going to start eating really poorly again; I want to aim to eat well. But I want to do things on my terms, not with some personal trainer ringing me up every month because I haven't been in. I lead a busy life - to the full. I am thinking swimming is the way to go over summer because not only will it keep me cool, but it's low-impact, which I need (my knees were killing after the trainer made me RUN on the treadmill for just 2kms). I think I have sleep apnea though - I rated really high on the test I got given at work. And it's quite annoying when you're trying to read an exam question and FALLING ASLEEP.
I have decided I really want to become a stylist for film and television. Unfortunately, the term "stylist" seems to mean nothing in Australia - so finding local info on the career isn't really fruitful. There are a few costume design/theatre courses in the country, but they're competitive and I'd need a whiz-bang portfolio - which I have no idea where to even start with. I'm guessing that fashion design/design would be a good base. If you've read "Dress like a star" by Annebelle van Tongeron, that's the kind of thing that interests me, only I'd prefer working on film/tv projects on a larger scale. I should probably learn to sew too.
Anyway, I'm going to do some tarot or archetype work. Hopefully I won't want to lie down to feel more comfortable, because then I will fall asleep.
