Went to Disneyland Saturday, spent absolutely way too much money upgrading my annual pass so that I could go any day I wanted for the rest of the year. So, uh, if anybody ever wants to go, hit me up.
I managed to remember extra batteries but not my camera, so I had to rely on the iPhone. Turns out the pictures actually come out half decent.
<- Of course, I still got completely lost on the way back to my car.
The "celebration" stuff is the big thing they're pushing this year. There's a tie-in parade; nothing special but it has some cute floats.
Oh, speaking of cute! I saw the sweetest thing: as I was walking down Main Street I noticed a barbershop quartet singing in a storefront. I have a love of barbershop music that goes beyond just my desire to give Seth MacFarlane the old screen door treatment, so I went for a closer look. I was jostled out of the way by an enthusiastic videographer but it turned out to be because a young guy was proposing to his gal to the strains of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Totally adorable.
Seriously though. Do you think he does the voices?
Ridiculously expensive pass aside, I was trying not to have too spendy of a day, so I brought some snacks. I refilled that water bottle all day, until I lost track of it somewhere in Tomorrowland.
There had been a meetup; I managed to find some kids that were with a youth group and we kicked it for the rest of the day. We went on Splash Mountain, which I would normally have never ridden alone. I tried to get a picture to represent how soaked I got...you can't really see that but it came out all MySpacey and emo so I liked it anyway.
I am a notoriously slow ice cream eater. I would have gone for the sorbet, being contained in a wrapper that would allow it to melt at will, but they were out. Mickey was, however, delicious.
We were heading out of Tomorrowland at this point when I noticed these guys getting set up. I was all, "Wait, they're gonna do some Stomp stuff!". And they did.
Found these amazing wonderments at World of Disney. Want want want want want want want.
First items I ever actually collected were bells. They should still be around somewhere, but I know a lot of them went down in the '94 earthquake. Anyway, the only reason I didn't buy the actually fairly reasonably priced Tink bell is because they don't seem to be in very short supply, and so it seemed a bit early for Christmas decorations. It will be mine, though.
Stopped at the Hearthstone Lounge in the Grand Californian for a chance to get some free D23 stuff and a $10 rum and coke. I ended up getting a Baloo pin and hitting the SNT, which is just about the coolest thing ever.
