conspicuous consumerism

It's funny how iconic something as simple as a certain san serif font can be. Alternately, it's funny how easily we can be suckered into assigning value to something that's objectively worthless.

In other news, I got my very first designer bag evar!!!!1

Hehe, did I con you into thinking this would finally be a politics-free post? One thousand apologies.

I actually ordered it about two weeks before the election, knowing that it would either be a bitter trophy of defeat or the shit (it's the latter). They sent me the wrong bag at first so by the time it finally showed up I already knew what it felt like to pick a winner for once.

It's just a plain canvas tote bag, I figured I'd use it to add that extra dose of pinko hippie to my reusable grocery bag collection. But now that I have it and can see how cool it really is I'm not so sure. I'm a little worried about the buttons faring against cans and whatnot, and why should I only be representin' to the people at the grocery store? It's juuuust big enough that I could probably use it for school, that might be interesting.
