So many things have been happening lately that I don't feel like I have time to properly recount them all. Still, let me write a few details.
First, I saw Guys & Dolls on Friday. The show was put on by my university, and my friend Melanie was in the ensemble. I congratulated her on a job well done after the show and she gave me a big kiss on the cheek, leaving remnants of her heavy stage makeup behind.
The show was very well done, and the guy who played Sky Masterson had a beautiful voice. I told Caroline she should date him. She promptly rolled her eyes.
Speaking of musicals, I recently saw The Lion King at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, and the show was visually stunning. Still, I don't believe this musical beat out Ragtime for the best musical Tony. The three-hour performance oscilated between groundbreakingly awesome and Disney-esque cheesy. I still had a good time.
Saturday afternoon, Caroline and I met Kirsten and her boyfriend Brian at the Scottish Highland Games in Forest Park. It was expensive ($15 admission and $6 for a small meat pie) but entertaining. We watched large, kilted men flip logs and lift hay. We also watched people dance, listened to bagpipe music, and photographed ourselves getting personal with a giant, stuffed Lochness Monster.
Then we went barhopping Saturday night, which was tremendous fun. We went to a piano bar and I nearly lost my voice screaming and singing so loudly. I got sufficiently drunk so that I found absolutely everything hilarious.
I also shot a roll of film at the latter two events, so perhaps I'll scan some if they're quality. Anyway, that's what I've been up to.
