Ten Years Ago Survey

Feb 24, 2006 12:05

I ganked this from pushmearound.

Ten Years ago, it was early 1996. Take this survey, post the results, and see how many things have changed since then.

10 years ago.....Today

Q1) How old were you? 13

Q2) What grade were you in? 8th grade.

Q3) Where did you go to school? Quincy Junior High School in Quincy, Illinois. It didn't really occur to me until I was in college and teased about the simple name of my school that schools could be named for something other than the town.

Q4) Where did you work? This may have been when I was teaching clarinet lessons (which didn't last long), but I was most likely unemployed.

Q5) Where did you live? With my folks and my sister. My parents still live in that house.

Q6) How was your hair style? The hairstyle that I always go back to after I try something new: blunt cut at my shoulders and parted on the side. It's my safety cut, and whether I get feathered bangs or a mohawk, I will always return to this style.

Q7) Did you wear braces? No, but I had a holding arch. I got the braces my freshman year of high school, which helped to make me uber cool. (Yes, I know that no one who is actually cool says "uber.")

Q8) Did you wear contacts? No.

Q9) Did you wear glasses? No, but I needed them. We didn't quite realize how bad my eye sight was until the following year.

Q10) Who was your best friend? I think I was in transition between groups. It may have been Lacey and Stacie at that point.

Q11) Who was your boyfriend/girlfriend? Not applicable. See #7.

Q12) Who was your celebrity crush? It may have been Michael Crawford, who was already over 60 at the time. That is seriously gross, I know. If it makes me seem more normal, I also thought that Michael Ball was quite delicious. (I was in my musical theater phase; can you tell?)

Q13) Who was your regular-person crush? I had two: Shawn and Shane. This was based entirely on their gorgeousness.

Q14) Were you a virgin? Yes.

Q15) How many piercings did you have? One hole in each ear. Still just those.

Q16) How many tattoos did you have? None. Still none.

Q17) What was your favorite band/singer? See #12; was in love with Les Miserables.

Q18) Had you smoked a cigarette yet? Nope.

Q19) Had you gotten drunk yet? Not even close.

Q20) Had you driven yet? No; I was only 13.

Q21) If so which car? See #20.

Q22) Which of your pets were still alive? Licorice, our cocker spaniel. I adored her. Technically, our greyhound Boston was alive, but we didn't have her yet.

Q23) Looking back, are you where you thought you would be in 1996? God no. I thought I would marry my college sweetheart (check!), but I thought I would have attended an Ivy League (ha ha, wasn't I cute?), and that I would be some kind of psychologist-veterinarian-musical-theater-composer (see #12), like the Dog Whisperer meets Andrew Lloyd Webber. I also never saw myself living on the West Coast but a lot of aspects about California suit me. Ah, I was so naïve.

Edited at ~3 PM:

Where I see myself in 10 years: I think that I will be married to Leon and that I will have popped out 1 or 2 (most likely 2) kids. I will be doing the stay-at-home mom thing and hopefully working on my novel (and hopefully it won't be the first but ha ha, it so will be). I will probably still be round, but I hope that I'm svelt. And living in St. Louis or Pittsburgh. Or maybe something more urban. Emphasis on a fairly urban area in the Midwest or on the East coast. I don't expect to be in California in ten years.

The guinea pigs will have passed on by then, and I hope that I'm living in a 3+ bedroom house with a beautiful kitchen and hardwood floors. And that I'm a homeowner! But now we're getting into the wish list bit.
