I was just reading oliveoyl's live journal where the user icon is currently an Elijah Wood picture, so, naturally, it made me think of The Lord of the Rings. Which I haven't seen. Yet

Oooooooooh... LORD OF THE RINGS...broadwaydollOctober 24 2002, 15:43:52 UTC
OH KATE!! You must must must back down from your stuborness and watch LORD OF THE RINGS. It is definately worth the 2 hours and some odd minutes that you will spend infront of the TV!! I can't wait for the next one to come out!! And I wasn't even a Tolken fan up until now. I would most definately have to agree with you in your plight to Leon on behalf of Leo's acting abilities. WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE by FAR screams of his tallent as an actor. Granted, DiCaprio fit his character perfectly as cutie Jack Dawson in TITANIC, but it didn't shout the volumes that GILBERT GRAPE did. I also really enjoyed Leo in THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK (I am a HUGE movie buff!! AKS ME ANYTHING! :) ) Did you ever see it? He was able to portray two completely different characters very VERY well!! Anyhoo... I thoroughly enjoyed this entry because I love movies so much. I seriously think that I should be a movie critic... I can tell you about ALL the good ones.

Yeah, I saw The Man in the Iron Mask but I don't remember it very well. I have a vague memory, though, of thinking that Leonardo was very sexy in it. I think that was my post-Titanic, oooo-Leonardo phase. :)
Anyway, I know what you mean about being a movie critic. That's one of my dream jobs. I love good cinema, but I can sometimes be quite a snob about it, which is offputting to my family.
LOL...I refused to see Titanic. Ick. But I did send my best female friend with my gf at the time so I didn't have to see it.
And I WISH I hadn't seen that stupid waste of a movie that everyone else seemed to like. I have to intention of seeing either sequel. Yeesh. That's 3 hours of my life wasted. Count yourself lucky on that one.
Heh. I had a similar sort of argument with my old boyfriend over a movie (Fight Club), and I vowed never to see it. And then, of course, it became everyone in the whole world's favorite movie, and mocked me at Blockbuster, and all that fun stuff. And then when I got a new boyfriend -- surprise! -- he was a regular Fight Club fanatic. It was funny. So, yes, I finally saw the movie.
Relationship growth is a good thing. Once you watch both of those movies, so much time will have passed that you'll have forgotten what the whole argument was about anyway. ;)
(And, yes, Lord of the Rings really is fantastic!)
