A [blank] by any other name

I have never been one for nicknames, or at least I haven't really had many applied to me. thaliachaunacy has been mildly successful in naming me Lou, I will recognize it as a nickname and respond to it, but she is the only one who ever uses it, so I'd not sure if I really counts. Occasionally I get 'Miss Jane', often by teachers, which I rather like. My sixth grade teacher used to call me Baby Jane (as in "Whatever happened to?") a reference I didn't understand and a movie I still haven't seen. Unfortunately I used this a my first screen name which resulted in many pervy guys with Daddy fetishes hitting on me and scaring me away from the internets for a couple of years. But for the most part I have remained just Jane.
When my mother was in the hospital waiting to have me, she never went in to labor I was about 10 days late, (thus creating my perpetual fear of lateness) the doctor asked my parents if they had names picked out. If I was a boy, they had absolutely no freaking clue what they were going to call me, if I was a girl however they had settled with quiet a bit of certainty on Jane. When I was born, the doctor instead of announcing my gender proclaimed: "It's a Jane" and I have been ever since.
