Okay, so I've watched episode one of the new anime,
Romeo X Juliet, and I must say that it was really, really good!
There were a little more breathy gasps than I had anticipated, but it did everything that a first episode should do - it drew me in right away, it kept my attention, and the ending had me impatient for more.
It was also a special treat for me when I realized that a lot of the instrumentals in the anime included
Tchaikovsky's
Romeo and Juliet: Overture-Fantasy, and the
feature music by Sergei Prokofiev from the Romeo and Juliet Ballet! We had a video tape of the ballet (along with a video of the Swan Lake ballet), and I used to watch it all the time as a child. The scene in the anime when Juliet first walked into the ballroom brought back so many memories of the ballet. Ah, nostalgia! XD
In any case, I found the first episode to be surprisingly good. Of course, since it's only been one episode, it's possible the rest of the series will go down hill, but, somehow, I doubt it. ^_~
EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I can't believe I forgot about this, because it's one of my favorite things about the anime - Juliet has a sword, and she knows how to wield it! Isn't that totally awesome?!
