I don't usually post back-to-back days... but today kicked so much ass, I just needed to jot it down on something that took less time than pen and paper, which will come within the next few days, as I need to write a crapload of things in my real journal.
Went into NYC with Jamie and Dean today where we split up and I headed up to the MoMA to meet up with none other than the amazing Lauren Trzaska! Along with seeing her, the MoMA absolutely *kicked ass* and I got to not only see pieces by some of my favorite artists ever, but some of my actual favorite pieces!!! I finally... after years... got to see "Christina's World" in person. I nearly cried, I was so happy. I also got to see "Starry Night," Rodin's statue of John the Baptist, one of my favorite Pollock paintings, and a Rothko that I would never have imagined looked so breathtaking in person. Dada was the theme for the feature exhibition and that was pretty intense. But we got to see some cool Duchamp/Selavy works, and a bunch of other things that made no sense whatsoever. I love art museums!!! There were so many other things going on that I can't even begin to try and describe, but let me just say that it all kicked ass. I'm now a MoMA fan. Rock.
Then Lauren and I walked back down to 33rd and hopped the PATH downtown for some satisfying lunch at Red Bamboo with Jamie, Dean, and Phil and Shep (their friends, my first time meeting them), followed by discovering that FRANCE BEAT PORTUGAL! But now, conflict for the final... half French, half Italian. Guess either way, it's win-win/lose-lose. But it's all good as long as it's a fun game. So, yay veg chicken, World Cup Soccer, and the awesome new pair of shoes I bought after dinner. Finally, Lauren gave me a lift back to my house, chilled here for a bit, and then made her way back to South Jersey.
It's been an awesome 2 days off, especially after last night's fireworks with Mike, Jamie, and Dean. We found a perfet spot for viewing and the show had some really interesting parts. I can't remember when days off went so wonderfully since I started working again. It'll be hard going back tomorrow, but I have days off next week, as well (including the Ani Difranco concert in Central Park that Thursday!), so I'm going to call it a night and crash soon. Later, loves!
