THERE IS A WORLD MAP AND I WALKED ON IT -TWICE-! No sailing, no connect the dots, TOP DOWN OLD SKOOL MAP. Ohmygosh so happy squee! Also, on that note, SIX MAN PARTY! *dies happy!* Yes, I know innovations are good, no I have no problem with trying new things, but Suikoden seems to not do so well with the new things I am looking at you "buddy system."
(Although the good new things (read: cooking game and plays) don't seem to carry over. But neither did the bad thing so yay?)
*cough* Anywho, I'm really enjoying this one. It's easier to get into than 4 was, although that may be perhaps because my hero does not have a perpetual stick up his ass when he runs. The story is a bit quicker than 4's, as well, and because it's closer to the timeline of 1-3, there are waaay more reference drops.
Kanakan, for one. They mention the Island Nations, but I have yet to hear of Harmonia (that's a given in any game), Sindar (another given), or Toran (though technically Kanakan is there) and Dunan. I eagerly wait!
Alas, there is no uploading previous save files with this game. That makes me very sad.
But I met Jeane! *squee!* It was so great! I shall repeat (totally from memory) what happened!
*party walks into Rune shop*
Jeane: Welcome to my shop, tee-hee.
Lym: wh-wh-wh-wh-wh-wh?!?!
Lyon: Wow... wow...wow...
Lym: My mom has names for women like you! HUSSY! You're a hussy!
Lyon: Prince, avert your eyes!
Lym: As princess I demand you clothe yourself!
Jeane: I am wearing clothes, tee-hee.
Lym: Hussy hussy hussy hussy hussy!
Jeane: Why are you here?
Me: R-runes...
Jeane: Oh good. So many people come here but never buy anything.
*proceeds to the shop list and scene ends* *squeak has long since died of laughter*
Her face looked a bit different though, but I can't place why. She almost looked younger. Odd. I want her in my party though because I couldn't see her outfit like at all and it's always amusing to see how much more clothing she loses each game.
*eagerly awaits finding Viki~!*
Anywho, I was just going off to do another plot point when I had to return the game. Sadness. But I love in this one how many choices you have to make! I have seriously gotten more choices in this short of time than in all the other Suikodens combined. Twice. And I guess they affect the ending and I can miss Stars because of them, and it's agonising because I'm all "I'm missing a Star because of this I knooow iiiit!"
Also, I so want the prince and Lyon to hooked up. I should know better than to think that because hello, Suikoden. Someone's gotta die, and it's gotta be someone close to me. It's like...the Law of Suikoden. Soon as I get my Rune and Leknaat appears, I'm gonna be counting down and looking for Famous Last Words.
Although it amuses me when peoples with faces tell me goodbye and they enjoyed meeting me and hope someday to meet again. And I'm all "Oooh I'll see you again when I have my aaaarmy and you're my Star of Deeeeestiny."
And ok done ranting now.
