spent all day dealing with bureaucrats to get my police clearance for work at DC public schools. Between paying for my fingerprints and getting my fingerprints taken, it took about two hours.
SO they want me to teach an Algebra I class for eight weeks, which is hilarious because I can't add. Apparently my GPA and GRE scores qualify me for the job. The only problem is that they want me to start on monday, but that's when I'm leaving for Boston for a week. I wonder if my GRE scores are SO STELLAR that I can convince them to let me start next monday. I don't know.
Would it be stupid to turn down a job because I have plane tickets somewhere? I can't change the plane tickets now, and my friends in Boston are already expecting me. And I've been planning this forever and I really, really want to go. I'm totally going to Boston. But will they refuse me the job? I don't know. Why does everything have to happen at the wrong time?
I'm not complaining. except maybe a little. A job finally comes along and they want me to teach algebra and skip my trip to Boston. Hmm.
I might still be able to convince them to let me start late. we'll see.
thinking out loud. exhausted.
got rejected from Montana and UT. Only ten schools left.
my parents will be here in TWO DAYS.
also, my brother got laid off after working for the same company for four years or something. I think he might go do something like the Peace Corps now. I dunno.
