It's been so long since I've posted :( But we've been using the internet too much so Dad made us cut back. We're currently at 104% of our December quota! Oops!! Anyway, there's not much of interest been happening anyway. Been working and then coming home to clean and do chrissie cards etc. Went to Sydney on the weekend to celebrate Chrissie with family there. It was really fun!!! And on Saturday night Trisha, Nikki and I went to see We Will Rock You. It was just as good the second time round!!! You really have to go!! Went to the Family Group Xmas party when I got home on Sunday night. That was fun. Caught up with people I haven't seen since this time last year. We played soccer on the tennis court at 10pm!! And the kids beat the parents 7-4!!!!! Oh! And last Wednesday night Lauren and I met up at the local Carols by Candlelight (aka WaggaChristmas Spectacular). It was great to see her again. And she tried to eat her candle. We were eating icecreams, with candles in the other hand, and Lauren got a little confused. Lucky she realised in time because she could have done some serious damage (the candles were lit).
Anywho, I thought I'd put the family Chrissie newsletter here too. It's a bit long sorry, but basically covers what we've been doing all year. And I wrote it :)
Oh, and other news, Carrie got her HSC results last week and did really well. She's really happy with her results :)
So, here's the newsletter... :)
Hello everyone!!!
I hope that this letter finds you all very happy and healthy!
It is amazing to think that another year is almost over. And what an event filled year it’s been. Dad’s father (Granddad) celebrated his 90th birthday in August, we welcomed another two cousins into the family (Clodagh, daughter of Luke and Eileen and Bailey, son of Gavin and Jodie), and Carrie’s completed the HSC!
As I did last year, I lived on the main campus of Sydney University in Sancta Sophia College whilst completing my second year of Orthoptics at the Lidcombe campus. I was the college’s Social Awareness Secretary. As part of this position I organised events such as Daffodil Day and Pink Ribbon Day at the college as well as a St Vincent de Paul Buddies Day and being responsible for the student body’s sponsor child. I also got involved in backstage for the college’s annual play and sang in the choir. And was a strong supporter for Sancta in the Intercol sport and cultural competitions. But most importantly to me, the friendships I made last year have now become even deeper and closer.
Carrie has been keeping herself very busy despite the stresses of Year 12. She was the Navy House Captain and so was a member of the Student Rep. Council. One of her more important jobs for the year was organising the Year 12 Mystery Bus Tour, for which she became the first in nearly 30 years to let the cat out of the bag. Oops! She was also strongly involved in the music program again, playing the clarinet and saxophone in both the Concert and Stage Bands. She turned 18 during the year, which added many social occasions to the calendar as the rest of her friends turned 18 also. In completing Year 12, she received many awards at the awards night including the Nano Nagle Award for Community Service, the PD/H/PE and Studies of Religion awards and a Distinction in the UNSW Science Competition. Her hard work during the year has led to the offer of Early Entry to Pharmacy at Charles Sturt University in Orange, taking the stress of the wait for results which are due for release later this week. At the end of November she attended her Graduation Ball in a beautiful dress she made herself with Dad and our grandmother.
Trisha this year became a little more independent as she began Year 10 at Mater Dei Catholic College whilst Carrie and Nikki attended Kildare Catholic College. She also got involved in the music department in her own way, being the sound and lighting technician for many events such as plays and concerts. She was a member of the Debating team, who won their grand final, and the Tournament of Minds team, which represented the region in Sydney for the State competition. She continued ballet as well, and danced beautifully at their annual concert last weekend. During the year, she and 8 other girls from school organised a trivia night to fund-raise for Micah House and they raised over $1500. She also helped organise several St Vincent de Paul fundraising events. At the recent awards night Trish received community and Cultural Awards as well as the top of the class for Science and Maths. She received a Distinction in both the Maths and Computing Competitions.
Nikki flew through Year 8 this year. She continued in the school music program along with the other girls playing her trumpet in the Stage and Concert Bands and singing in the choir. She also continued with Netball, with her team losing the grand final by 2 points. Nikki played very well all year and received the Best and Fairest Award. She participated in the Red Shield Appeal and helped at both the Henschke Primary School Fete and her own college’s open day. Nikki is also currently 2 merit awards away from the Gold level in the Student Incentive Program for which you need 75 merits. And at the recent awards ceremony received an Academic Achievement Award.
Dad this year has been kept busy by the many activities of us wonderful girls. He came to my college’s Father and Daughter dinner again this year in September and enjoyed meeting my friends and their fathers. He, Carrie and Nikki went to Perisher for a skiing trip in August with Mary and her son Michael. And, during the year Dad made two trips down to Melbourne with his brothers and father to see the football.
As a family we went to see The Lion King in Sydney in March and we all loved it. Nikki wanted Dad to buy her one of the birds. Last weekend Nikki, Trisha and I saw We Will Rock You as Carrie saw it last month with her boyfriend, Richard. We were all blown away! Definitely recommend seeing it if you get the chance.
The biggest news of the year though, is Dad’s recent engagement to Mary Kendall which we are all thrilled about. They will be marrying next Easter with a small family ceremony and are currently looking all over Wagga for a house big enough for us all, including Mary’s two sons, Michael and Max.
We will be spending Christmas is Wagga again with Dad’s family. Next year, Dad’s office is moving to new and bigger premises. And we will be going to Europe for 3 weeks in July. How exciting!!
Wishing you all the best for the holiday season.
Amy.
Carrie, Trisha, Nikki and David.
And just in case I don't get on before Saturday....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Squarmi :)
