Edward himself was up late because of the dreams and thus he slept in. Aside from sleeping in, it took him quite a bit longer than usual to get his clothes on and he even missed one of the buttons on his shirt, rather adorably. He yawned and wandered into breakfast, spotting Winry and since there wasn't really anyone else around, he took the seat at the Slytherin table, just behind her. "Hey."
Winry poured orange juice over a plate of scrambled eggs and paused, taking a moment to realise that something was wrong.
"...Damnit," she groaned as Ed sat down next to her. She pushed the plate away and grabbed a couple of pieces of toast instead, making sure to pour the juice into a glass this time. "Hi," she mumbled, noticing just in time that she was about to butter her toast with maple syrup. "How's your arm?" she managed to say.
Winry guided the toast to her mouth before taking a few gulps of orange juice. She was starting to feel a little more awake. "Couple of hours." She waved the hand holding her toast for emphasis. "Lot on my mind, had to work on your automail. I got off class yesterday, but I can't do too much today."
"Yeah, I mean, I know you have to work on it but it's...don't go killing yourself or anything. I'm not going to die without it. 'Sides if I didn't have it at all, I'd always be like this." Edward devoured some unsuspecting bacon. "No sense in staying up for however many days it takes you."
Winry looked over at Ed and managed a smile. "Do I look dead to you?" She paused. "...Don't answer that. But I wasn't going to sleep anyway, so I may as well have been doing something useful." She yawned. "It's fine."
"Kay, I won't worry about it then. Here." He pulled out one of the blank candy hearts and handed it over to Winry. The only word that appeared on it was 'family' which is truly what Edward felt about her and coming from him was fairly high regard.
"Good." Winry blinked as Ed handed her a candy heart, of all things. The word 'family' wrote itself across the thing as she watched, and her smile widened. Wordlessly, she gave Ed a hug.
"I didn't buy them, I think everyone got some. You should check your dorm room, mine were in my trunk with a note to give them out to people I know, or you know, eat them." Edward smirked. "I don't think I like candy hearts so I thought I'd give you one and as long as it wasn't poisoned I might try it."
"Hey!" Ed said, scooting away from her quickly. "Well I needed someone to be a poison tester and I haven't seen him since he stormed off yesterday. He's still pissed about the Moogle thing, like I meant anything bad by it, annoying bastard." He groused, but he wasn't the one upset really. He also didn't mention the other word that had come up that he didn't particularly care about, but Winry sure as hell did.

Disaster was a rather fitting word for it.
She hit Ed in the shoulder that had an arm attached. "Gee, thanks. I'm so honoured. Why didn't you check for poison with Mitani or something, huh?"
