Link didn't turn to Ren when he spoke. Although Ren couldn't see it, Link's eyes were wide with fear and he had started to sweat from the anxiety. He felt his throat dry up, as if no amount of water would help it. The only thing Link was able to keep back were tears. He wouldn't let anyone see him cry.

Despite the fact that there was nothing in Ren's voice or actions for Link to think that the Gryffindor was telling him this information to cause him harm, Link really wanted to punch him. He was starting to shake now, and the outlet for his frustration and fear was sitting right next to him. Sure, he was in absolutely no condition to fight. The events that unfolded last night had bruised him pretty bad, and he was sure that more than one rib was broken, but he had to let off some steam somehow.

Wincing from the pain, Link looked at Ren as if he was demon from the bottommost levels of Hell. He tried to get into a decent possition to punch him, but fell back in the bed groaning from the pain that exploded in his torso. His life couldn't get any worse.

Ren was distracted slightly from looking around the room that he loathed that he didn't see Link start shaking, when he did turn to look at the boy, he just looked in shock at the other boy...apparently he got over the grief already.

Quirking an eyebrow slightly at the glare Link was now sending his way, Ren wasn't sure why but the look in Link's eyes stated quite clearly that he was pissed and was now focusing that rage on Ren directly.

Link starting to move wasn't something he was expecting either, his eyes growing wide as he jumped to either assist the boy or back away. "Whoah, watch it!" He warned as the blonde collapsed back down onto the bed, "Did it ever occur to you that moving might be a bad idea for you right now?"

"Shut up!" Deep down, Link knew that Ren was only telling him this for his own good, but that still didn't change the fact that Link was probably the most feared and hated thing in the building.

Link knew that he wasn't angry at Ren. He knew that he could only blame himself for what happened, but that thought only made him more frustrated, and this guy wasn't really helping. The fact that he couldn't even punch him also worsened his feeling, so he lashed out again. This time, his fist was able to hit the Gryffindor's jaw, but it wasn't without a price. Link hissed as he fell back on the bed again. Trying to punch someone with broken ribs really wasn't a good idea.

Ren wasn't quite sure what had happened but the next thing he knew, Link had flailed his arms out towards him and just punched him in the face. Stumbling back a bit, he clenched his hands on his jaw groaning a bit and wondering what the hell he did to deserve that. Sure, it didn't actually hurt that bad because of how weak Link was but, it was more the shock of getting punched in the first place that really got to Ren.

Shaking off the surprise, Ren gave a small glare to the other boy, "You know the phrase 'don't shoot the messenger'? Don't punch him either!" Massaging his slightly sore jaw he looked down at Link now suffering for his move 'serves you right' and he gave a sigh his voice now calm, "Besides, I know what you're going through. It's hard to deal with having your secrets be ripped wide open."

Link continued to glare at Ren. "I seriously doubt that. I don't know about any of your secrets, but I'm sure none of them include the fact that you transform into a bloodthirsty monster." Link winced as he sat himself back up. "Not only do I have that to worry about, but I have to worry about the rest of the people here and whether they'll chase me out of Hogwarts, so no, you have no idea what you're talking about."

Link looked away from his visitor and rubbed his temples. He really didn't know what he could do. Sure, he'd have to stay in the hospital wing until he healed enough so he could walk, but what's going to happen after that. Surly, he'd be kicked out or school, and he'd have to go back home. It wasn't that home was a bad place, but he had so many friends here, and if he left Hogwarts, he knew there was little chance of seeing them again.

Hearing the boys little outburst of frustration, Ren went back to the chair he was sitting on before, leaning on the back with his head resting on his crossed arms. “Only one person knows right now,” he admitted, “But I’m so paranoid that I’ll screw up again and someone else will find out. Sure I don’t turn into a werewolf like you but, you don’t have a choice in that.” He looked away, a sad expression crossing his face thinking on his own problems momentarily.

“Listen to your elder when I say I do know the feeling. It’s like you want to curl up away from the world and cover your ears and shut your eyes, hoping that if you ignore it, it’ll all be over. That everything you’ve done to hide, all the time spent has now gone to waste and that now that people know, they will never think of you as the same person ever again.” He didn’t want to go into detail about his own problems, he didn’t want to put a burden on him like he did to Swan.

He shifted his arms again so his head wasn't resting on them and making them numb, "Besides, you have friends here who are good people. They won't want you to leave. They'll do what they can to help you and make sure you stay. Trust me."

Link wanted to yell at Ren and tell him that he was full of shit, but he couldn't. The seventh year had just described what he was feeling, so it was only right that maybe Ren did know what he was saying.

Link knew that Sheik and Del would be upset if he left, but he was afraid that they were the only two people that were going to miss him. He knew that they would do whatever they could to keep him at Hogwarts, but they had no power over the Headmaster. (Or the Ministry for that matter if they got involved.)

He was still shaking a little from the shock when he turned back to Ren. "Sorry I punched you. I don't know what I'm thinking right now." He really didn't care if Ren would forgive or not, but he did feel bad for taking his anger out on him. It wasn't like Link to attack others like that.

Blinking at the sudden apology, the punk boy stared at the blonde for a minute or so before he began laughing. He guessed after his little psycho-analyst stuff, Link realized that Ren actually did understand what he was going through. "Hey, don't worry about it!" he said with a small chuckle, "We all have different ways to deal with it and you just happen to be more violent then I was." He tenderly rubbed his jaw, "Didn't really hurt much anyways."

Akabane watched over all of these little...goings-on with a slight little smile. It was absolutely gorgeous that these two boys were getting on so well, no?

He busied himself with loud tinkering in his own office, just so that the boys wouldn't get too carried away with their apologies.

((ooc: Akabane's not stepping in yet, unless you want him to, so feel free to skip him.))

(OoC: Awww, Akabane is welcome! He can also chide Link for being an idiot if it's in his character! Just go ahead and do whatever Akabane would.)

Link was too depressed to laugh along with Ren. The only positive thing that Link could see from this conversation was that he knew one person-other than Del and Sheik-that wouldn't try to chase him out of the school. It was a little comforting, but it didn't help the fact that Link still had to worry about the reactions from everyone else, including the headmaster and his head of house.

"Figures," he replied to Ren's comment. "I end up hurting myself more than you. I guess this just isn't my day." He tried to smile, but his face just wouldn't allow it at the moment.

"You tried your best to beat me up, that's all that matters," Ren said jokingly, trying remain calm despite being in this horrible room. His last few days stuck here with Akabane trying to get him to drink potions that did god knows what to his health was enough to drive him loony for a good while.

"Probably best way to deal with it is just sleep it off for a bit. It's a better cure then whatever Akabane will give you, that's for sure." Ren paused a bit and turned to Link, lowering his voice, "Seriously, don't drink whatever he offers to you."

Now, he couldn't have boys, no matter how...interesting...they were, impugning his good name, now could he?

Akabane stepped out of his office, holding a mug of Dreamless Draught -- this time, he had made sure that it was as tasteless as possible, with a slight aftertaste of chocolate, and smiled as nicely as he could towards Link.

He shot a slightly annoyed glance at Ren right afterwards, his hearing more than sufficient to hear what Ren had said. "Dear boy, I'll have you know that after your--" he paused to sniff, slightly hauteur, "--little debacle, I made an attempt to make things as pleasant to drink as possible."

He wouldn't mention how hard some of those potions had been to clean off his floor. Not at all. "In this case, Link, it is simply some Dreamless Draught to pass you by, should you wish to sleep. If you need some sort of salve to get rid of bruises, or anything else in that manner, do not hesitate to ask."

He smiled. "And of course, journals are allowed, so if you would like to bring someone else over to visit, that is perfectly fine."

Link took the Dreamless Draught from Akabane and placed it on the bedside table next to him. "Thanks." He should probably ask for something to at least numb the pain that was throbbing throughout his torso, but he didn't think he really needed it if he was going to take the potion.

He turned back to Ren with a raised brow. He didn't see anything wrong with Akabane, and he was wondering what had happened between the two for Ren to despise the Healer. "He doesn't seem that bad to me."

A shiver went down Ren's spine as the Healer had walked in, slowly turning to give the man a look of pure loathing. "Little debacle my ass," He muttered sourly, "That potion you gave us did nothing but make things worst and you know it."

He turned back to Link with a dull expression and said calmly, "He wanted to use me as a practice dummy for acupuncture when I was here a few days ago. Something that he even admitted he wasn't very good at."

"Make things worse?" Akabane looked as offended as he could manage. "Why, you poor things were shivering from the cold. And so, why not warm you all up with Pepper-Up Potion? And the acupuncture, my dear Gryffindor, was quite simply an ultimatum -- Muggle magician's choice, if you would."

Akabane turned to Link, still looking deeply offended. "Would you believe, they broke my mugs and spilt the potions on my sterilized floor? It's as if they have no sense of hygiene."

It seemed as if Link was forced to take sides now, but he decided to stay out of the whole situation altogether. He hated being on anyone's bad side. Instead of answering either person, he tried to change the subject. Thankfully, Ren had brought his guitar. "So, Ren. Have you written any tunes lately?" He just hoped that asking Ren this would keep him and the healer from complaining about each other.
