Aang had been wandering the grounds after his classes had finished. He always hated hanging around in the castle for hours, he was much more suited to the outdoors anyway.

He had just begun to make his way around the lake when he spotted someone practicing magic. He stopped short and watched as the girl called out an incantation, and shortly after a large rock shattered a tree into mere splinters. "Woah! That was so cool!"

Toph whirled around at the voice. Now that she had heard his voice, she noticed that she felt his presence through her feet. She was so focused on her magic and the boy had stepped so lightly that she hadn't noticed him.

Despite being startled, she grinned and replied to the boy's comment. "I made that one myself. I'm also working on another one too. Wanna see it?"

"Yeah!" Aang replied eagerly, practically scurrying over to stand closer to the girl. "You made that last one you're self? That was cool! What's it called?"

Aang was always really interested in new spells, especially when they involved the elements like that last one seemed to. All in all, he looked like an eager little puppy at the prospect of witnessing a new spell.

"I don't have a name for it yet. I don't have a name for my other spell either." Toph felt the boy come closer to her. "You might want to stand back for the next spell." Letting the boy move out of the way, Toph raised her wand. "Terra Domus!" The ground in front of her was torn up and formed a fairly large dome to form over her head. She had to move out of the way however, because she was still working on mastering this particular spell, and the dome collapsed in a heap of rock and dust. "I still haven't gotten a hang of that one," she said with a shrug.

Aang watched in fascination as the dome formed and then collapsed. "You might be making the dome too wide, or without a firm support thread within the spell." He suggested off handedly. He realized he was kind of cutting in on her spell creation process though, and immediately tried to correct himself.

"Sorry- it's just a suggestion. Um...you don't have to pay attention to it if you don't want to. Haha..."

Toph normally didn't take advise from other people, but this kid seemed to have an idea about what he was talking about. "I'll try that." Raising her wand again, she repeated the spell. "Terra Domus!" Once again, the dome formed around Toph. She didn't have to run this time though. The protective spell stayed in place. "Thanks Twinkletoes!"

Aang was rather happy to see the spell work and hold this time. The girl was good, to be able to correct something like that easily. The name she used for him kind of through him off kilter though. "Twinkletoes? Where'd you get that from?"

Toph laughed at the boy's question. "You only walk like a fairy. I hardly noticed you when you came down."

Toph liked this boy. He was funny. "The name's Toph by the way. Toph Bei Fong." She walked up to the boy and held offered her hand for a shake.

"I do not walk like a fairy!" Aang protested with an exaggerated flailing of his limbs. When he calmed down, he noticed that the girl- Toph- had introduced herself and was probably waiting for him to do the same.

"I'm Aang- no last name, my family didn't really believe in them." He said, taking her hand in a firm grip and shaking it in greeting.

After Toph and Aang were done with their hand shake, she immediately punched him as head as she could in his arm. "Nice to meetcha! So, do you know any cool spells?"

"Ow..." Aang muttered, rubbing his arm. What did she punch him for? "Nice to meet you too... I can do some air and water based spells, but I'm pretty sure they aren't as cool as yours."
