The library had always been one of John's favourite places at Hogwarts when he was a student, and he was quite pleased to discover that it had changed very little. The chatter of the books drew his attention - that was certainly a new feature.

"Oh, this is brilliant!" he remarked happily. "You've charmed it to read itself out loud! And Dickens, too, you've got excellent taste."

Glancing up, a smile began to form across Belles face as she gave a laughing nod.

"Yes, Dickens seemed most appropriate for the holiday. Though, there are others for when it ends," she explained, gesturing to a table that had a few more holiday stories ready to go. She could easily set up another area, if more people arrived and wanted something different, as all were already pre-charmed it would just take a quick flick and swish.

Not forgetting her manners, Belle stood up and offered her hand. "Belle Desrosiers, the Assistant Librarian."

John shook it eagerly. "Belle? Your parents had excellent foresight in naming, it would seem. "

He looked through the other books curiously. "Oh, you've got excellent taste. Plenty of the classics, it looks like. And it seems like there's been some expansion of the library since I was a student at least."

Belle beamed as she took in the compliment. Not the one of her beauty as she had heard that many times before and, though flattering it had never really held too much of a response, but of her taste in books. Books were a bit part of her life, she'd readily admit and she loved to talk them over with people.

"Thank you",she replied, following him towards the table where she had set up the other holiday tales. A slight frown crossed her face as she glanced towards the section of Art books and Muggle Literature. That section had just been redone not to long ago. "Yes, I was told a fire broke out before I took this position and there had to be some revisions done. Add to that, we had a few... unprepared for visitors and well, we had to repair and reorder for a few sections."

"A fire? In the library? That's terrible! Oh, I hadn't heard any of that." John gave the library a slightly woeful look, patting a nearby bookshelf in what seemed to be a comforting gesture. "But you, and whoever'sthe head librarian, have done a wonderful job with it."

"Thank you," she began, mimicking his woeful look momentarily. Her expression brightened, however, when she her eyes rested upon the repaired shelves, looking almost as good as new. If the Doctor couldn't of told the difference, then Belle didn't think anyone else but her would either. "It is an interesting job, but it is well worth it. I hope it stays in shape for a long time."
