Point-taking is highly ineffectual when dealing with Kadaj, and ultimately does more to punish his Housemates. Detentions, perhaps, would be more suitable. Removing certain privileges.

Yes, as you may have noticed, taking points from him does not seem to deter him from behaving badly. I would suggest things such as detention, or suspension from the Quidditch team instead. Point loss only punishes the rest of us, as he does not care at all.
Perhaps we might offer to tutor him in certain subjects at which we excel, in exchange for good behavior. He does seem interested in learning.

Zekk sits there quietly for a moment, thinking it over.
He's been quiet lately, though. But it's a good idea, finding other things to punish him with, since the points don't bother him. Would the threat of detention work on him?

It's actually not so much that they feed into it as that Kadaj is so messed up he's not afraid to overstep his boundaries even with the faculty- and most of them don't know how to handle it.
Personally, Sieglinde doesn't think there's much they can do without Kadaj actually being willing to change.

I believe Sieglinde is correct on that count - that most of the staff and other prefects are simply unsure of the proper way to handle Mr. Sorrel. He is an unusual sort, certainly, and must be dealt with in... an rather unusual manner.
I have spoken to him, and he seems amenable to the idea of being taught, on the condition that he behaves himself. I have offered to tutor him in Potions, myself. If this works, we should have much less trouble with him, though I am not certain it will solve all our problems.
Trial and error, unfortunately, may be the key to discovering the best way to curb his outbursts.

He'll just, uh... Sit here. Quietly. And see how this all works, really.

Thanks.

She's periodically looking out the window. Someone is bored.

She wonders if she might have her housemates' attention?

Well, Zekk's not going to protest against it.
