It was hard getting over just how different this child version of Grell was from the older version. Perhaps his treatment of Grell should change accordingly. Washu on the other hand didn't seem all that different save for being a little whinier. Granted the two had rarely crossed paths before. Now that she was teaching the lower years again, they were bound to run into each other more often.

Ciel debated offering his hand to assist Grell in getting back to his feet but decided against it.

"..."

"I hadn't been planning on it". Shameless eyeroll. Taking the stick Washu had been riding on and walking nearer to the cherry tree, he minded his footing as not to carelessly step on one of those hazardous fruits. Then with the stick he proceeded to poke a cherry lying some distance from himself. The cherry seemed to take on an iridescent glow before the inevitable explosion. "... Do you understand now?". One cherry might be not as remarkable, but.. if one set off a chain reaction it would be disastrous. "If you're going to play outside.. play somewhere else".

Resting on her hands and knees, Washu looked between the two as they spoke. "Is that what you're going to do?!". Was this new kid really going to make his head explode?! Her eyes lit up, glistening a little in the midday sun. "COOL!". It must be some kind of magic trick! If she studied it closely than she should be able to recreate it herself...

Unfortunately, he'd gone the safer route. Probably because Grell sounded so frightened by the prospect. Hmm~ He was a good kid but he needed to learn to live a little~!

Standing up, she dusted herself off and reached out a hand toward Grell,"You aren't going to stay down there all day are you?". She smiled. So the cherries really did explode... this gave a new meaning to the word cherry-bomb.

He sat up and watched for Ciel's head to explode but he instead picked up Washu's makeshift broom and poked one of the cherries. His eyes lit up with fascination at the gooey red exploding everywhere. "Wow!"

He blinked at her and took her hand, sitting up and like a proper english gentleman he went about dusting himself off and keeping his robes clean.

Except the young red head was too interested for his own good and picked up a rock, aiming for the cherry and tossing it at it. When it exploded, his eyes darted around for another rock!

Wow, was not necessarily the reaction the older Slytherin was going for. Wow sounded too much like -wow, let's do that again!-. These kid's were supposed to be discouraged from remaining here, not encouraged.

Maybe he could find another activity for the two of them. "Wouldn't you both like to go inside for snacks and a story? I hear they are all gathering in the library for such an event..". That way, I won't have to look after either of you.

"Grell..." Ciel pouted as the child disregarded the danger and sent a rock or two hurdling through the air. "You shouldn't--" But then .. there was another explosion, and another... Looking back at the tree over his shoulder the boy paled. That one cherry of Grell's was setting off others, leading to a ... large pile of them. His eye widened as he looked back at the curious tots. "Run towards the entrance!". He commanded.. but it may have already been too late.

Hurrying back to the children, he drew his wand silently cursing Grell under his breath and inaudibly as he cast a shielding charm, then angled himself into aposition to defend them.

While she was busy contemplating the safest way to gather these cherries and use them to play tricks on people, Grell had already started throwing rocks at some of the other fruits. "That looks like fun!" She beamed, grabbing a handful of tiny pebbles for herself.

Even after Ciel was warning them to run, she carelessly threw the whole handful at once. This was an experiment~. Let's see what these babies can really do! In theory she knew what to expect, but she wanted to see it for herself!

Ducking behind both Ciel and Grell she tried to peek around them to watch the chaos. Explosions~ were like an old friend.. for some reason. Hmm.

He was laughing for a child and he threw a few more rocks that way, watching the cherries exploding as if he was making the tree angry, but he didn't care. It was fun and he wanted to do it again! Though Washu through a whole handful and he clapped a little at the effort.

That was until Ciel started yelling again and he took a step back. He suddenly felt warm as Ciel hovered over him defensively, glancing at the shield charm. Was something bad going to happen? If his Father had taught him anything it was that shields were used to protect. That is why he knew Protego and only Protego. He had to protect himself.

"Ciel.."

There are moments such as these where one wonders why they even bothered. The kids seemed determined to disregard his advice, and quite content at the prospect to do themselves bodily harm as a result. Why didn't he just let them? What did it matter if either of these kids was safe or not? In previous escapades, Ciel wouldn't even have hesitated to tell child Grell about the cherry tree at all. He would have stood back and allowed the chaos to ensue without his intervention. Tch. He was going to have to work on that... he'd hate to mislead others into thinking he cared. A ridiculous thought.

Looking at the children though.. and how helpless Grell especially looked kept him from simply abandoning them as he had been left to himself years prior when his family was ripped away from him...

The pile of cherries shuddered into a large explosion, the shield charm managed to block the debris but not the shock wave, throwing all in it's wake off balance. Finding himself sprawling on the ground a few feet away from where he previously stood, Ciel raised himself up into a crouch grimacing about just how much fun this day had become and rubbing his back with one hand. Glancing to either side he looked to see how the others fared. He should have taken most of the force... but... who could tell for certain without accessing the damage.

Washu joined Grell in the childish enthusiasm over this new game he'd invented. It was like setting off snap pops on the fourth of July! Only the explosions were a little bigger and louder.

Ciel was no fun, she pouted as he intervened once again. Trying to peer around the two of them for a better look her eyes grew wider when she realized just what was happening.

Then her grin deepened. This was going to be BIG. BIIIIIG. Lowering herself to the ground she covered her head like they'd done in so many of the emergency drills in other classes. The explosion did not disappoint her, she managed to keep one eye open in order to watch all the sticks and miscellaneous items rushing past them, many of which were stopped by the Protego spell. Having lowered her center of gravity, Washu was not propelled as far backwards but being light she still was flipped a few times, incurring a few scrapes and scratches.

She was torn between thinking "That was fun! Let's do it again!", wondering if that sort of energy could be harnessed to some sort of device to be used in travel, and wanting to tear up about the scratches and how the little ones hurt the most! For now she stuck to, "That was fun!".

His hair was a litlle frazzeled but other than that Grell was fine. The explosion had been big and Ciel had taken most of the force. His body had flopped much like Washu's and suffered a few scrapes but lucky no injuries. He wobbled up onto his knees and crawled over to poke both Washu and Ciel, wondering if they were okay.

Shoving his hair back, he wasn't worse for wear. That had been amazing and given the chance and maybe a better shield he would do it all over again! His leg hurt and he rubbed at the large growing bruised there. Oh. Father wouldn't like that. While he probably wasn't as high up in nobles as Ciel's family he did have some connections with the Ministry.

"Ow."

"Is everyone all right?" Ciel questioned, gently easing off the ground. He winced in transit, the pain shooting throughout. Nothing a nice.. loonnnnng bath couldn't solve but it was not as if he had a free moment since these professors had been deaged. He grimaced at Washu's words. She couldn't be serious? These kids needed to be grounded.

At his poking, Ciel looked down at the disheveled red head. It looked as if they were all relatively unscathed.. until Grell said that. "What is it? What hurts?".

They were going to have to make a trip to the hospital wing, weren't they? If nothing else the charms professor needed bandaids, and Grell... was fixating on that leg. For his sake, it had better not be broken. Repairing bones was a good deal more painful. It wasn't pointing at an awkward angle and he had managed to crawl here under his own power...

"Ow?" For once her expression faltered. She looked curiously at Grell. If he was really hurt, then.. it would be all her fault wouldn't it? She'd been the one goading him on. This suddenly wasn't as much fun as it had been.

"I'm all right..." Washu mumbled her voice laden with guilt. Inquisitively she looked toward Grell. "Should we carry you? Does it hurt a lot?".

Then to Ciel, "Isn't there a spell for this? Can we just fix it with that?".

Grell suddenly just burst into laughter at all the attention him, his hand folding back to cover the bruise and he pushed himself up to stand on both legs, hands resting on his hips in a proud little puff of chest.

"Nope! It doesn't hurt at all! Good as good can be!" Except it was shaking and Grell was putting on an act.

"But we should go back inside now!" Have an awkward wobble walk. Yep. Going to keep walking now. Still walking. Still walking!

If the laughter out of context wasn't suspicious enough, that walk was a dead giveaway. Fantastic. Walking alongside Grell he quipped in a hushed voice so that Washu wouldn't hear, "Lying is unbecoming of a noble..". A bit hypocritical to mention in Ciel's case, however at this age Grell would be unaware of that.

At least, the leg wasn't broken and he understood the desire to not appear weak in other's eyes. It could be just between the two of them. When they reached the castle entrance he held the door open and waited for the kids to pass.

"I know!" She beamed and rushed to grab a few sticks. "I can make you a splint!". Washu thrust the sticks in front of her and they hovered inches away from Grell's nose. His laughter sliced through the anxious moments,, and caused her to join in with her own giggling.

"You mean it?!" She persisted but tossed the sticks aside. When he got up and started walking strangely, she assumed it was all part of a game, trying to imitate it as they moved to go back inside.

Maybe next time, she'd be more careful before involving others in her experiments. Or not.

He didn't need any sticks and he wasn't going to hobble a bit like that any further. He willed his leg to grow stiff and even if he walked he lightly blinked at Ciel, squeaking a little at his words. Father would've disapproved, but pride was more of the matter than naything.

"I mean it!" He huffed and walked in after Ciel, pretending it was all a game otherwise.
