It probably should have occurred to Sora a little earlier that Alma would have been in the Hospital Wing, but in his defence he had been really worried. Something so weird had been happening at Hogwarts that they hadn't even found out about it until everything was all over and they couldn't help.

That was the worst thing, Sora thought. He knew he wasn't exactly the brightest guy on the block, but he was good with spells and duelling and he could think on his feet. You didn't really need book smarts in order to fight zombies. But after the whole getting hurt in a duel thing way back, his mum had been kind of paranoid...so when she asked him to go to the Garden, he'd figured he owed her. In hindsight, he was thinking maybe that hadn't been the best idea. She was his mum, after all. He could've owed her twice.

But that was all done now, and no matter how much he might've wanted to, Sora couldn't change that. The important thing now was finding Alma and making sure that she was really definitely okay, instead of just pretending to be. Finally cluing into the Hospital Wing thing, he altered his directed and ran there, hardly pausing to throw the door open. "Alma!"

Alma, too, had been instructed to leave the school by her brothers... but her stubborn streak was infamous for a reason. So, ignoring those orders, she stayed right where she was. She was certain she would receive a Howler from one or all of them at some point, but that mattered little to her. Her skills had been useful, far more so than if she had tucked her tail between her legs and gone off to the Garden, and she hadn't actually been hurt, so she was content with her decision.

For all that stubborn Gryffindor bravery of hers, though, she was still a little jumpy. The door suddenly burst open, startling her more than she would have liked to admit, but fortunately there were no Inferi or agents of Ultimecia behind it.

"Sora!"

As soon as she recovered from her moment of surprise, Alma ran to the door and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.

Sora hadn't really been sure what he would do when he saw Alma again, and the moment he did, he stopped worrying about it. If he'd been carrying bags, he probably would have dropped them because the only thing he was concentrating on right at that moment was her.

He met her halfway, of course, not that he remembered running at all. His arms wound around her and pulled her tight, forehead leaning against hers. They were so close now that his eyes were sort of crossing, trying to focus on her. "You're really okay, then," he said, and while he definitely wasn't crying or anything, the strained tone to his voice said he might've liked to. He closed his eyes for a moment, just taking her in and also stopping his eyes from crossing. "I was really worried about you."

"It's all right. I'm all right." Her tone was gentle and, she hoped, soothing, with the intention of making Sora relax and go back to his usual cheery self. This was the first time since the attacks had begun that she actually felt guilty about staying; making him worry about her as much as he had didn't sit right with her, at all. But that didn't matter anymore; she hadn't been hurt and Sora was finally back, and she was very, very happy about all this.

"I missed you, you know," she said softly, and Sora could probably hear her grinning. "Welcome back."

"Yeah?" He leaned back then, even though he was definitely still hugging Alma. Sora wasn't quite ready to let her go, just yet. "You're sure? You're not just doing that thing where you say you're okay but really you're missing a leg or something?

He could hear her smile though, and when he leaned back just a little more, could see it properly too. "Well, that's good," he said happily. "I missed you a lot too. I really wish you could have come with me. Or...that I could have stayed..." Sora, never adept at hiding his emotions in the first place, took on a look that was a little sad, a little distant, before snapping back suddenly to a smile. "It's over now though, right? And we're both okay and so is everyone else, so that's...the main thing."

"Do I look like I'm missing a leg?" Alma's smile widened. It was good to finally return to some semblance of normalcy, to have Sora with her again, being... well, being Sora. "Worry not; I was here the whole time. I'm fine."

Her cheerfulness faded the moment he got that sad look on his face, and she pulled him closer to her, shaking her head. "No, you wouldn't have wanted to stay. It was awful." And however much she'd missed him, she was glad that he had left, nor did she regret staying. She sighed and rested her head on his shoulder. "You're right, however. Everything is over now, everyone is all right... That's all that matters now."

Sora considered her for a moment, before a sudden grin overtook his features. "Well, you could have a peg leg," he pointed out. "You were doing the healing thing, huh?"

He felt his arms tighten again without him even saying so when she pulled him closer. This was...nice. It was really nice. Especially when she rested her head on his shoulder like that. "Awful things are always a lot less awful when you have the people you care about with you," he said softly, hand rubbing up and down her back, a little absently. He cast his mind briefly over what it must have been like, what Alma had been up to while everything was going on. That in turned sparked another, much more positive train of thought, so he followed that one instead. "Hey do you think...you could teach me some healing spells?" he asked, half-remembering waving a giant key around, shouting Curaga.

"I would have liked to go out and fight, myself, but..." Alma sighed. It was what Ramza would have done, had he been there. "Everything was so chaotic, and people kept getting hurt... And if you'd been here, I would have had to worry about you, too, on top of everything else!" And that was the last thing she would have wanted.

She raised her eyebrows curiously at his request, and pulled away from him slightly, though she still held onto him. "Healing spells? I suppose I could. What brought this on, all of a sudden?"

Sora frowned a little at that, his first instinct to tell her no, she definitely shouldn't have done that. But, that wasn't exactly fair when he would have done the same thing if he'd been there, so he considered his words carefully before speaking again. "I think...you probably did a lot of good in here, right? Fighting's not all there is to it, even the best fighter is going to need to be healed at some point, and what would happen if they didn't?" He drew in a deep breath. "But it's over now, right? I think there's not much point in wondering what else we could have done, because we can't change that."

A little bit of colour shot to his cheeks at that. "Ahahah, well...it's just something I remember Other-Me being able to do, and it was really useful. And if something ever happens to my friends, I'll want to be able to help them, you know?"
